Stray kitten
Leroy deeply traumatized after the death of his son and daughter-in-law having to deal with the inevitable arrival of the new cycle knowing he has a grandson who’s at target age and trying by every possible means to keep his grandson as far away from Derry as possible because he knows what a child in Derry means during the cycle, which is why he doesn’t have him enrolled in school with the others, because he doesn’t want Mike to go through what he and Will went through, and he doesn’t want to lose anyone else. But one day his grandson comes home and tells him that, well, he’s been hanging out with those white kids and Leroy is ready to give him the scolding of his life and then suddenly he mentions that Tozier boy, and he knows Marge married that Tozier young man, and he connects the dots in a fraction of a second. And then he realizes there’s nothing to be done: no matter what he says to his grandson, destiny is already in motion and fate is inevitable. There’s nothing to do. The die is cast.
Bill's expressions are unmatched 😂
the audience vs not making every stephen king character a little gay (we all fail every time because they’re gay, he wrote them that way idk what you want me to do about it)
I know I may be reading into this scene too much.
But my first impression of this scene is IT was "attempting" to "convince" Ingrid. When Ingrid finally realized what's in front of her isn't her father and how the smile on It's face falls away and it "tries" to "convince" Ingrid by saying "Why I'm Pennywise your dancing daddy." It even tried again when Ingrid said no it replied with "Yes I am." Like it was trying to salvage the situation and convince her that he's her father because she's been such a good little helper. She gives it easy meals and even provided it with a very big last feast before it went back to sleep. So it felt like It was trying to convince her but didn't have the patience nor the emotional intelligence to really understand how to convince someone. She was probably easy to manipulate as long as It impersonated her father but this scene is where the illusion fell. After It lost it's patience with her (after only two tries btw) it just decides to taunt the shit off of her.
People may argue with me that It sensed her fear of abandonment and made It hungry that's why it was smiling when it turned around but it already knew her worries and fears after It said "Now I'm going to sleep." Ingrid looks at It and It says "Don't you worry, I'll come back. I always do." So It already knows her fear of abandonment It already understands she fears not being able to see him again so It reassures her malevolent cosmic entity style. Ingrid was already afraid and It already knew her fear yet was ready to leave and spare her for It's beauty sleep. It seemed to have gotten mad at her when she grabbed It without permission. It probably wanted to spare her still but she refused to be manipulated and refused to bend to It and just accept It's words so it got madder and lost it's patience with her since It did seem to be done with her shit from the start anyway. In the end she got deadlight but didn't seem completely catatonic maybe just shocked as her eyes weren't rolled back.
