Today, October 4th, is the feast day of Saint Ammon. He was an Egyptian monk who lived in the 3rd and 4th century. Legend tells us that one day, some sheperds brought a sick man to Ammon whose body was swollen from poison. They told him that he was bitten by a dragon, so Ammon heals the man and goes to the dragons lair. The dragon attacks him, but Ammon prays to god and the dragon explodes.
