no one is ever who they say they are, and that is both a blessing and a curse within her world. if the phrase is meant to scare her . . . he wasn’t doing that great of a job. “ people usually aren’t, ” she says out loud, waiting for him to make the next move. after all, he was the one trying to prove he wasn’t what her mind was telling her, right? if there was any intent of her trusting him, he’d have to make a pretty good argument as to why she should. “ so who are you? ” and why should i trust you?
