Rec: When Sherlock brings home a box of old books and papers that someone threw out, a double mystery begins: where they came from, and what in (or out) of the world is going on with the strange deck of cards John discovers inside. I think what I liked most about this - aside from the discovery of the properties of the cards themselves - was that it is a mystery in the truest, most original sense of obscure, secret knowledge akin to revelation, a transcendance of realms and the explicable. Plus it’s a rare fic that’s set in the Pilot!verse where Sherlock and John are together from the get-go and know what a treasure they have in each other.
