I once read a fic where Sirius had an unusual relationship with death due to his anumagus form actually is a real Grim. I think they drank together occasionally.

What if Harry had the u usual relationship with death? What if every time he was in a near death situation death would show up for a chat, starting in the girls loo first year. By second year, as he lies dying, death has begun to try to recruit him, getting Harry to accept the title he was born to: the master of death. The title is not earned by assembling the hallows, the hallows are tools to be used by the one born to the title.

At some point, Harry accepts, realizing his destiny and unlocking power within himself. Knowledge and power flood him. The catch? He has to name an anchor, someone to keep himself from getting lost in power and bloodlust. His choice is simple, the one who has been his conscience since he entered the magical world, Hermione Granger.

First year when the trip discovery Hagrid cooking his "dragon" egg, Hermione asks 'isnt it a bit small for a dragon egg?'

Hagrid being Hagrid responds with 'everythings gotta start somewhere' which is accepted until the egg actually hatches. Inside was not a dragon as expected, but a magical snake (authors choice but I think a coatl would be interesting) who immediately bonds to parseltongue Harry Potter. This bond, a true familiar bond, has not been seen in Britain in generations.

How does this affect Harry? How does it alter dealing with the basilisk? And why does his familiar spend so much time reading while curled over Hermione's shoulders?

The Deathly Hallows aren't really what everyone thinks. Well, they are, since they are artifacts made by death, given to the Peverells, but they are so much more. They are meant as guides, teachers to the right individuals. Meant to educate those who would become Death's Paladins.

What changes for Harry and Hermione when Harry's cloak starts to talk to him, revealing not just the lies and plots around him, but the truth of his feelings for Hermione and the depth of the magic within him?

Dumbledore restricted Harry's magic and his ability to learn when he left him with the Dursleys. Over the years of adventures those chains cracked, and when he sees Hermione fall at the battle of the DoM, they finally break. All his magic flares within him, everything he tried to learn or was made to not realize he knew floods his mind. Armed with his legacy, a smart and powerful Harry Potter is on the war path. His target? The Death Eaters who hurt Hermione, and the true dark lord, Albus Dumbledore

Christmas 1991.

Harry receives his father's invisibility cloak from Dumbledore in an effort to ingratiate young Harry to the old man. Unfortunately for the headmasters plans, Harry is the Master of Death, evidenced by the Deathly Hallows tattoo appearing on his right shoulder. Unlike the belief that it takes possessing all three Hallows, the MoD is a title granted at birth, not one earned by finding deaths rokens. The cloak immediately recognizes it's master, and begins to teach Harry. The elder wand stops working on Harry, making Dumbledore's manipulations obvious, while the resurrection stone calls to him in his dreams. By the summer after fourth year, Harry is begining to make his own plans along with his secret girlfriend Hermione, who has been with him since they rescued Sirius.

Now as fifth year begins, he starts to weld the power he has been learning, destroying the dementors sent to kill him, restoring the stone and reclaiming the elder wand.

Death eaters begin to turn up dead, their tattoos exposed and terror on their faces. For the first time since he started Hogwarts, Tom Riddle begins to fear. Death is hunting him, and time is running out.

Fifth year Harry rediscovers the mirror of Erised, and drags Hermione to show her the artifact. Standing together, still holding hands from where Harry pulled Hermione in front of the mirror, they get an unusual reaction from the artifact. Silvery white light mixed with shadow pour from the surface of the mirror, cocooning them before the reflection resolves itself. Before them stand their older selves, Harry's arm around Hermione, with what is obviously their children in front of them. Behind them however, stands something unexpected. Behind Harry, one hand on his shoulder, stands the personification of death. Though in all appearances a smartly dressed man in a very nice suit, both can almost see the billowing black cloak and reaper like visage beneath. Holding deaths other hand is a vision both recognize as life. The beautiful blonde is obviously pregnant, but has an undeniable grace to her stance. Beneath this Vernier both can see the green skinned, leafed haired goddess beneath. her other hand rests upon Hermione's shoulder. They watch as the unseen deities move, death placing his cloak upon Harry's shoulders as Gaia places a crown of Flowers upon Hermione's head. They gasp as they feel those same objects settle upon their real selves. A locket resembling a Celtic knot is placed around Hermione's neck as Death places a smooth black stone in Harry's pocket. A knobby wand finds it's way to Harry's grasp as Hermione grasps a staff that seems made of every wood known. Power washes over them, filling them with hope and knowledge. As the onslaught ends, light drinking black eyes meet glowing emerald eyes and every death eater shutters as if someone just walked on their grave. Both Dolores Umbridge and Tom Riddle shudder in sudden unexplained fear.

As Harry catches the elder wand after defeating Voldemort, he becomes 'master or death'. What no one knew was that it didn't mean they controlled death, but were selected as the next incarnation of death.

Transported to a job interview of sorts with Hermione tagging along, Harry is made an offer. The second blood war was not supposed to happen, Riddle cheated death and he's not happy. As effectively deaths apprentices, the pair can go back two years and stop the flow of souls and along the way, fall in love.

The night of October 31, 1981 Lily Potter didn't cast some obscure shield or ward, nor was it her sacrifice that saved her son. What she did was cast a magic converter. It would take any hostile magic impacting Harry, and convert it to energy he could use. When Voldemort cast the killing curse, fifteen month old Harry couldn't contain it, resulting in the explosion of magic that killed the dark lord. How does this affect Harry at Hogwarts, and the second blood war?
