I have a gigantic list of Fallout OCs. No, really. We're currently at 13 reasonably developed for FO4, then 4 or so more I haven't been investing much time into lately, plus a courier and their kid. And to be quite honest the only reason I'm not obsessed with 76 is that it's laggy as shit because of high ping. Alright let's talk about the fave four:
🖊 my beloved, my idiot, my golden boy, Brandon. 35 year old prime dad material who laughs way too hard at fart jokes and is far, far deadlier than anyone gives him credit for. Bran had a horrible childhood, ran away at 16 to join the army, married young, incurred severe PTSD from fighting at the front lines and later settled into a boring life working for RobCo as an engineer. He finally sees his dreams coming true with Shaun's birth, only for it all to be dismantled when his wife serves him some nice divorce papers and implies that the kid isn't really his to begin with. The bombs fall and they are rushed to the vault approximately half an hour later. A freshly thawed Brandon returns to his soldier roots and cuts a path through the wasteland in search for Shaun, joining the Brotherhood of Steel as a way to point his anger towards something that isn't his wife or himself, very content in being given orders and not having to think about the consequences of his actions. It's Danse's situation that shatters his views on the BoS, and for a while he wanders without purpose, later deciding to accept Preston's offer to lead the Minutemen. He then simultaneously becomes the most adored and feared figure in the Commonwealth, a very 'women want me fish fear me' situation. Only 'fish' in this case is code for anyone who dares hurt the little people.
🖊 then we have Abigail, history professor and cryptid aficionado from West Virginia. She had a worse childhood than Bran, and is the kind of person who grew up too fast because of all the responsibilities on her shoulders. In her early teens she loses both parents, and is left to raise her little brother by herself. Also marries super young, and quickly finds out that her husband is a walking trash bin - but Abby's toxic trait is that she always, always bends over backwards to please the men in her life. She basically carries them both throughout their relationship, dude remains a mediocre fellow leeching off his increasingly successful, increasingly stressed wife. She graduates, she gets her master's, she's working on her doctorate, and she gets the opportunity to teach at college level as well as an invitation to join the war effort as a military history and strategy consultant before she turns 30. Her career is on an insane, meteoric rise, she finds out she's pregnant and for once it feels like her love life is also going to improve; then her husband finds himself a new fling, starts treating her like garbage in hopes she'll leave him so he'll get to drag her name through the mud, and finally hits a very pregnant Abigail, who still cannot find it in herself to kick this man out. He is the one who gives up and leaves shortly after Shaun is born, leaving her in debt, completely alone and heartbroken. Shaun is around six months old when she starts putting the pieces together again, finds herself a best friend in a similar situation who she ends up dating for a while, then the whole nuclear bombing happens and it all goes to shit again. I quite enjoy giving my OCs a slightly different route from canon, and in Abby's case, she leaves the vault a good three years before old man Shaun begins looking for her. During that time she works as a mercenary, builds a reputation for being incredibly ruthless and professional, and really just tries not to think much about anything. But deep down Abby is an optimist and truly believes in humanity - which is why she jumps at the opportunity to be part of the Minutemen.
bonus: in one of my AUs, Bran and Abby are neighbors who did not know each other and thus both survive the blast. Bran takes the position of General with Abby as his strategist and second in command, a partnership that works frighteningly well.
🖊 Bruno, better known as Sal, was born out of my desire to have a character closer to me in culture and roots. In his canon he is a Brazilian, come from very, very humble beginnings, whose luck turns when his mother remarries and the family moves to the US. By then he is already in his late teens, has massive trouble adapting to the culture, and gets more and more rebellious as time goes on. He is pressured into joining the army in order to be taught 'discipline', but ends up joining the navy instead and hating the whole experience with all his might. But it's there that he meets his wife, Debra, a tough as fuck, no nonsense lady with a very militaristic mindset. They quit at the same time, before the bigger conflicts that lead to the bombs happen, and in order to appease his in-laws, Sal leaves behind his rebellious ways and becomes a hard working, proper man. He changes quite a bit, hides his tattoos (two full sleeves, colorful and referencing his homeland), cuts his very long hair short, and for a while everything is good, even though he is miserable. Then Shaun happens, he never wanted kids and was not ready for it at all, him and Debra no longer see eye to eye, and are consciously trying to make their marriage work by the time they enter the vault. Though he feels like a shit for it, Sal is relieved when he wakes up and Shaun is nowhere to be found - with his wife dead, that's the end of that, in his mind. He has no interest in finding his son and takes the mercenary path instead, remaining untethered to any factions and trying to take one day at a time.
🖊 finally, we have Bastian, my latest sole survivor. I had a last name I really wanted to use, then some characteristics that sounded interesting, and I went on collecting details that kind of had little to do with each other to see if I could connect the dots later. The result is Sebastian Aguirre, born in Iceland, built like a stereotypical 'viking' dude, abandoned as a toddler near Barcelona, adopted and named by a young, single and ready to mingle Spanish woman, raised in a small village. Mother later married an Irish man who'd taken a vacation to find himself again after a bad breakup, he becomes Sebastian Crowe Aguirre, the family travels around Europe for a couple of years before deciding to settle down for good in Ireland and expand the family. Soon enough he finds himself the eldest of nine children, all adopted, and takes to the role of big brother incredibly well. When the time comes to get an education and fly solo, he leans into his penchant for finance and administration, and though he is quite unusual for a businessman, being a 6'10ish heavily tattooed dude built like a tank and all, he becomes incredibly successful. When war comes knocking he is drafted and doesn't much mind it - he's not glad for war, of course, but he sees it as an opportunity to protect his people. His connections in the corporate world see to it that he doesn't stay in the army for long, however, and he is discharged and offered a job in Boston. In Bastian's canon, Shaun is his step-son, and though he does see him as his own he also feels like he has failed and there is no point in looking for him when he comes out of the vault. He decides to try and better the Commonwealth in his honor instead, and does it the best way he knows how: even 200 years ago money is what made the world go round, and he'll need plenty of it. He joins the raiders in Nuka-World with the intentions of reopening the parks as a business venture, all while playing along to the whole raiders 4 lyfe thing. Despite his good intentions, Sebastian is 100% a 'the end justifies the means' kind of guy, and feels absolutely no shame for manipulating everyone knowing full well he always had plans to wipe all gangs out.
the gang’s here! seeing as I’m doing a clean install of the game, I decided to get my characters’ presets in order. so why not take some cute pics, right? (shh I know the Bran one isn’t new). in order:
6. A Kiss of Relief - for the pairing of your choice :D
Going through my askbox and holy mother of god, there was so many unanswered things. I am ashamed. Also I promised I wouldn’t write anything until I was done with the Fallout 4 DLCs but sometimes an idea hits and you need to grab it so here we go. I’m so happy I managed to write something.
Thank you for sending this, and sorry for taking forever! The pairing I’m going with is my Fallout OC, Sal, and @mininuked sweet Tato, Leilani.
Sweet Affectionate Moments Meme
The caps almost felt too heavy. A worn bag too big to fit in his closed hand, the payment for a job well done. Three hundred and seventy-five, counted one by one, tossed over the bar counter; the man on the other side seemed to be in no rush, double checking to make sure he wouldn’t get a bottlecap more than what they’d agreed upon. A smart move, all things considered: Sal would never rob him blind, too worried about his reputation to put his hands on money that wasn’t his, but he would always try and make his employer cough up some more caps if given the opportunity. Must have been why the man was so quiet, twirling the tips of his dirty mustache as Bruno checked the amount for himself, staring over the mercenary as if he’d never seen a more despicable creature. Quite ironic, that a man who’d paid another to cut down bandits would dare judge. But at the end of the day, the stares and huffs, disgusted tone of voice and deals done in shady corners, none of it mattered. So long as he got paid, whatever they thought of him didn’t matter.
“A pleasure doing business,” he said, raking in his hard earned bottlecaps, an amused smile on his face. A grunt was all he had gotten as a response, plus the brief tipping of a hat before the man turned around and pretended like the conversation had never happened. He followed not long after, no rush in his steps as he approached the barkeep, a handful of caps in his hand. Their exchange was silent, as it usually was - he’d push the money over, Vadim would accept it. A bottle for the road? Not this time, no, work to be done before the day is through. There are no goodbyes, they will be doing this again soon enough. The confident smile fades away after he walks out into the city.
Three hundred and seventy-five, two hundred and twenty three more before he can put his plan in motion. She knows nothing of it, or at least he hopes so; he had lied to her, too, when she’d asked why he’d been saving up so many caps lately. A small lie for a good reason, a small lie that would make her smile big. He could see it in her eyes the moment the words had left his mouth, the almost invisible turn of her lips, he had never managed to lie to her and certainly wouldn’t start now. But she had said nothing, amused but not suspicious, a quick nod and then she had buried her face in the crook of his neck like she did every night.
They didn’t speak of it again when he’d told her he’d taken on yet another odd job, escort snotty rich man from point A to B, wouldn’t take more than a couple of hours. She’d taken the old sniper rifle and slung it across her back, a smile on her face as she told him she would keep busy while he worked. A short scouting trip and nothing more, in order to become familiar with this unknown part of Boston. Jump across a few roofs, make note of interesting places, find a vantage spot from where she could easily see their camp. By the time he comes back she will be waiting, campfire lit and stew bubbling, she promises. Tomorrow they will make their way to Goodneighbor, pay a friendly visit to the Mayor, spend the night and then decide what they want to do next.
The thought of tomorrow makes him nervous, fingertips shaky and sweat dripping down his back. Tomorrow they will make their way to Goodneighbor, where he has spent all of his free time when she is away, wood splinters under his fingernails and splotches of paint he couldn’t wash off. He hopes she hasn’t noticed any of it, hopes she has no idea what it is he has been doing behind her back. Hancock had promised him he wouldn’t say a word, had even gone as far as helping him prepare the surprise. Had laughed at him aplenty, too, questioned his reasons for doing so much for a woman he’d refused to show feelings for. Had the legendary Salvador Sinclair come down with a bad case of the feelings? Sal never managed to come up with an answer.
He tried not to imagine her reaction as he made his way across the bridge and towards their camp, tried not to picture the expression on her face. Tried not to predict the words she would say, but it seemed keeping it all in check became harder and harder as he got closer to where he’d left her. He hadn’t stopped to think it through until recently - how bold he would seem, or how foolish he would seem, if it would please or offend her. The idea had come one sunny morning, after yet another night spent in a thin sleeping bag under a makeshift tent. It suited them both just fine, adventurous spirits that they were, but the risk of being ambushed was too great to ignore. Hotels could be pricey, Diamond City was too crowded, an empty home outside of a big city too difficult to defend. Hancock had given him the idea unknowingly, whining about how she’d always take so long to visit. That everything she needed was right there in Goodneighbor - good company, fun, Hancock himself. They could even set her up with a cozy place if she’d like. He could see how her eyes shined bright even when she said a pained no, she couldn’t, she wouldn’t accept it; maybe one day, when she’d saved up enough caps. He hoped she didn’t know he had been doing it for her.
His reasons were selfish, or so he told himself. After years of wandering the Commonwealth and never spending too long in one place, this would be the perfect opportunity: he’d fix her up a place, somewhere high where she could stare up at the night sky. Somewhere she could feel the sun first thing in the morning, somewhere she could be safe and sound, somewhere she could call her own. Somewhere big enough that he would fit a corner, weasel his way into something resembling the normal life he’d never had.
Tomorrow he would find out, he supposed, clutching the bag tighter, two hundred and twenty three caps more before the debt was paid. He shoves it back into his pocket when he notices faint smoke and cooling embers, no boiling stew pot, her bag nowhere to be found. A chill races down his spine when he notices the trail of blood leading where Leilani had told him she would go, hand reaching for the shotgun as he calls for her, voice hoarse as he tries to keep it low in order not to draw too much attention. Hesitant steps take him forward, tracking the splatters across the plaza and into the ruins of an old building, flashlight clicking on as he slows to a crawl and listens. He has never felt this before - this rush, this anguish. Had he come this far to lose her now?
“Lani?” He calls out again, alarmed when he gets a response this time. But it isn’t what he is expecting, a mass of decaying flesh running towards him in the cramped hallway, another hand creeping from under a door towards his foot as he tried to retreat but it is far too late. He braces for the pain as he pulls the trigger, the deafening sound of the shotgun pellet bursting out and then through flesh and bone and rotten wood. Sal almost loses his balance then, the gunshot blast rendering him deaf for a solid minute. He makes his way outside when he is sure the building is empty, cold sweat running down his neck as he tried not to think of the worst.
He is already under the moonlight when he hears it, shuffling, a pained moan. Feral bites are never a pleasant thing, but he will survive. Sal palms the knife on his hip, knows there won’t be enough time to kill the feral before it perches on him for a taste. What happens next surprises him - the barely audible sound of a suppressed shot pierces the silence, the bullet hitting its mark. It takes him but a second to understand, though a few more to spot her, dropping down a set of rusty emergency stairs to come meet him. She looks just like she did when he left her hours ago, unharmed, perhaps now a bit confused. He can tell she is about to ask him what is wrong when she approaches, worry in her features. “There you are.” He whispers when she is but an arm’s length away, and does away with the remaining distance a second later.
His arms are wrapped around her before she can say a word, his eyes firmly shut as he breathes a sigh of relief. A calloused hand brushes against her cheek absentmindedly; he plants a relieved kiss on her forehead before he can think it through. Reality hits him a moment too late. She stiffens in his embrace. Bruno is already rehearsing his apologies when he lets her go. He is surprised when he feels a gentle tug on his leather jacket, delicate hands flat against his chest and she comes in closer instead of pushing away. “I’m glad you’re okay,” he tells her, and the content sigh that escapes her is a good enough answer for him.

Another one that took forever :’) sorry about that, but here we go!
The Excessively Detailed Headcanon Meme
3: Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?
Yes, he does! He goes for a bit of everything, but enjoys strength training the most, when he has the time for it. Expect to see him doing pushups and crunches in the morning. Setting aside some time for exercising will happen if he can afford to do it - say, if he’s staying in town for a little longer while on a job. Sal doesn’t have a home, so he doesn’t exactly have a place or equipment to exercise as much as he’d like to.
10: Neuroses? Do they recognize them as such?
Sole Survivor!Sal has seen some shit and done some shit - he has depression, PTSD that made that depression worse. Companion!Sal goes through things just as traumatic, but deals with them better due to upbringing, so watching people die isn’t something that scars him. That being said, he has little in the way of ambition, but whether that’s because he’s been depressed for a long time or the apathy came later I couldn’t tell you. He denies having problems, however, and tells everyone he just wants to be sitting on a pile of caps. He then drinks copious amounts of liquor to forget all about the lack of ambition and the emptiness it’s created inside him.
11: Intellectual pursuits?
For companion!Sal, virtually none. He would learn more about art in general, and music in particular, but he doesn’t see any practical uses for it and would rather spend the time making money.
14: Physical abnormalities? (Both visible and not, including injuries/disabilities, long-term illnesses, food-intolerances, etc.)
Sal is surprisingly healthy for a wastelander. He has his share of scars, because mercenary work and traveling across the country on foot isn’t easy, but nothing crippling or that causes him pain on the regular. Has all of his teeth and they’re in pretty good condition, too. He’s allergic to some specific kinds of wasteland drugs, mostly painkillers. But seeing as chems aren’t his thing and you’ll have to convince him to use a stimpak, it isn’t a problem.
15: Biggest and smallest short term goal?
Bruno has basically 0 ambition so goals aren’t something he even bothers setting. When he does, they tend to be very, very small and not entirely significant, like buying himself a new jacket, or a new mod for his favorite shotgun.
16: Biggest and smallest long term goal?
He does, however, have a long term goal, technically two. He wants to go back to New Orleans one day, to visit his nana. Does he plan for it? Is he saving some money for the trip back? Of course not. He also wants to visit his biological mother and his niece near Boston, but never does it, despite being close. He doesn’t resent his mother, but doesn’t like her, either, so while it is something he could do, it’d only happen if he was forced to do it, somehow.
21: Turn-ons? Turn-offs?
Sal is demisexual and as far as he knows heteroromantic, so talking about his turn-ons and turn-offs implies he’s close to someone already or very, very drunk and needy. When it comes to physical things, he tends to feel attracted by displays of power, in a way. Women who look like they can kick his ass are A+. It’s not a deal breaker, however.
He’s more of an ass man and he loves thighs/legs. Stockings/garter, skirts, dresses, anything that is equal amounts classy and sensual will get him going. Also one thing that is sexual but is Special for him and will put him in a loving, giving mood is a good old blowjob.
26: Do they have any plans for the future? Any contingency plans if things don’t workout?
He never plans ahead, and his few plans for the future (like visiting his mother) never get under way because he doesn’t care about them. He had this idea of settling down in the Commonwealth for a while, which means getting an actual place to live, but always finds another job and so he tells himself he doesn’t have time for that. He also hates the idea of being tied down to a place and missing opportunities elsewhere.
30: Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)
The only disaster that could affect him would be the death of his nana, because he expects she will outlive him, being a ghoul. She is truly the only person he cares about, and knowing of her death would make him feel terrible for a while. He’d drink lots, blame himself for not visiting her while he could. It would either help him get his life together, because he’d try to be the man she always believed he could be, or it would ruin him for good.
33: Concept of home and family?
Family was the grandmother he was never allowed to call anything but “Nana”, and the children she raised alongside him. Family is watching your adopted siblings go because they are much older than you and being left alone with your distantly related ghoul grandmother in a tiny cabin a forty minute walk away from New Orleans. Home is tending the herb garden while listening to jazz, family is stories about a country no one else seems to know about. Home is windchimes and colorful handwoven rugs, hot tea and strange noises outside your window in the middle of the night. Home is cozy, home is scary, and he misses it dearly.
36: What makes them feel guilty?
Nothing! You can’t feel guilty if you never stop to think about your problems!
He feels guilty for being the piece of shit human he is. All he does is drink, kill things and waste his caps on things that won’t last him. He never helps anybody. He doesn’t like anybody. He doesn’t even have friends. And this was not what his grandmother raised him for. Deep down, he knows this, but at the end of the day, he has nothing to fight for. Nothing to believe in. He’s not looking for it, of course, and unless that lands on his lap (or in his arms, fit for carrying ladies, just putting it out there), it’s not happening.
42: How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?
He got no formal education. He knows how to read and write, basics about most things, because his grandmother taught him everything she knew. She has plenty of experience raising kids, and hell no she won’t let a child she raised go about not knowing at least a tiny bit of everything. He knows even about the educational system that was in place before the war, and seeing as he’s met more than a few wasteland orphans who could use some basic instruction, he reckons it would be a good thing in post-apocalyptic United States. No idea how that could be done and he sure as hell won’t be the one looking around to make it work, of course.
47: How do they express love?
He’d be tempted to just express it with words, but he’s far too proud to allow himself that. He’ll be… Less so over time, as the relationship develops. He’s very romantic and big on spoiling his partners - the kind that brings little gifts, compliments, notices small things, gives you a nice massage at the end of the day. But he’s also a practical man, and will try to make himself useful. Unlike Kieran, however, he is far less invasive. He will not take over your tasks without asking you first, he’ll join in on whatever you are doing, wait for your directions and follow them to the best of his ability.
49: Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
Yes and no. He’s not afraid of dying, but he thinks it’d suck real bad. He doesn’t have a goal and doesn’t feel like he’s doing anything productive out of his life, so him dying isn’t terrible, but it’s not good, either. He’s “eh” about it.
for every ★ I get I’ll post a fact about my characters
★ Sal is an art lover in general, but he has a soft spot for music. Jazz in particular. He plays the guitar and some harp, harmonica if he’s on the road, though he’s never had any ambitions of becoming a performer. He also has a good singing voice, but you’ll have a hard time convincing him to sing.
★ Kieran speaks French. He learned it during his year with the raiders in Quebec. He practices it by speaking to D’Artagnan sometimes, and is always a little surprised to discover he still seems to know what he’s doing, despite having left the raider life behind over a decade ago.
★ Brandon’s handwriting is perfectly readable, but it doesn’t have a drop of grace in it. It’s square-y and he usually doesn’t differentiate capitalized letters. Everything that man writes or draws tends to look like a blueprint.
★ Tabitha is very superstitious. She is afraid of breaking mirrors, black bloatflies flying over the street in front of her, leaving shoes sole up and, wait for it, banshees. She heard tales from her older brothers growing up and turned out to be scared shitless of ghosts and the paranormal. The banshee was her oldest brother’s favorite story to scare her: a frail woman kneeling near a lake or river, crying and wailing. She absolutely refuses to travel at night because of this.
★ Nikola wrote down all of the nursery rhymes her mother used to sing for her before bed so she wouldn’t forget them. She sometimes hums to herself when she’s too afraid to fall asleep. She is convinced they help Bubbles fall asleep, too. In the AU in which she finds Kieran and he pretty much adopts her, he learns them by ear and sings to cheer her up.
bruh, I hadn’t done Covenant’s quest before. in fact, I had never set foot inside of Covenant before. and let me tell you, Brandon is wrecked. and it got me thinking how my other OCs would deal with it, too. rambling under the cut
from the get go he thinks the place is weird. but they have a cat, for goodness sake. the cat lets him pet it. he’s sold. then there’s the girl who likes to tinker. they chat for a bit. she’s a bright kid who happens to enjoy the same things he does. Dan seems like a decent guy, too. when he finds out about the whole thing? he’s livid. he doesn’t even hesitate when Chambers makes the offer. a straight up no. he frees Amelia without caring whether she’s a synth or not and doesn’t think about what it’ll mean when he goes back to Covenant. he actually tries to talk to people when he returns. then he cries for hours after wiping them out. takes the cat with him to the Castle, too. he won’t visit Covenant much after that. he’s set up the place for new people, but that’s about as much as he’ll do.
Evangeline would likely come up with some intricate, guilt inducing solution to the whole thing. something really manipulative she’d pull out of her ass - like maybe tricking Chambers into believing she’s a synth herself, or tricking the people of Covenant into thinking she’s actually a synth. don’t know. anything to spare lives, and Amelia’s too. provided she could find a solution that keeps everyone alive (Chambers and Blythe can die in a fire, however), she’d actually like the place. would make it a point to let anyone inside, but she might even live there.
now Sal, Sal would be an interesting case. I don’t consider Sole Survivor!Sal at this point anymore, so this would be companion!Sal. he’d drop by out of curiosity and to trade for some supplies. he’d try to get every single cap he could out of Dan, but would agree to help. he might even accept Jacob’s bribe - without Dan knowing about it, and then he’d investigate anyway. and boy, he would be pissed when he entered the compound. pissed. he wouldn’t feel guilty about killing the people inside the compound, but I think he’d chicken out of wiping out Covenant afterwards. he’d likely say no one paid him to do it, and they can’t do anything without their mad doctor anymore. only chance he’d go back would be if an employer made him do it, but even then he’d make it clear there would likely be a fight.
then there’s Kieran. Kieran wouldn’t even enter Covenant. the place is surrounded by walls. all of his “ambush” alarms would go off. it’d be the one place he wouldn’t mind not trading with.
So this one is… Very, very old. I’m sorry it took me so long to answer!
Get to know my character
for Sal:
01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?
Bruno means “brown”, Salvador means “savior”. I don’t exactly like the way it sounds, but I wanted a character whose nickname was Sal, then came the idea of making him Brazilian. I was between either Pablo or Bruno at this point, and Bruno sounds far more like a tupiniquim name. Not to mention, someone I admire greatly is called Bruno, too. Bonus that his name means “brown savior”. I mean look at him. *finger guns*
02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?
His appearance, though it’s actually both his biggest insecurity and his shield. While he doesn’t exactly stand out in the wasteland, pre-war Bruno was pretty far from the norm. Tattoos, jewelry, weird haircut, black clothes. He didn’t follow that style to stand out, not exactly, but it ended up becoming his weapon to fight against people’s mean comments and his ever present fear of not fitting in.
03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?
His hair! He absolutely loves his hair, and this goes for both Companion!Sal and Sole Survivor!Sal. It’s a warm black, wavy, and it looks absolutely amazing because he takes such good care of it.
04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)
Sal doesn’t have a lover in his canon playthrough, but I can talk about Debra, his wife. Physically, he loved her eyes and always said they were very expressive. But he also loved her confidence and determination, and her will to help others, all things he’s never really possessed.
As for AU pairings, there is @trashofthewasteland Michelle - and to be quite honest, he loves everything about her. But physically, I think it’d be how petite she is. It was never something he noticed on women before, particularly because he tends to prefer women who are taller and stronger than him and look like they could kick his ass. It’s strange - the good kind - that despite her being so different from what he’d always admired, he thinks his tiny boss is sublime. He also loves her hands. Don’t ask me why, he just does. Personality wise, he loves that she is genuinely a good person. She seems to have all the kindness in the world inside her heart and he couldn’t do that if he tried.
Bonus Leilani: he finds Lani an absolutely fascinating person to begin with. He feels like he’s finally found someone who understands what he means when he says he thinks in colors. And that’s comforting even though he never thought he’d want to be understood on that regard. He also loves her calm demeanor. Physically? Her eyes. He could stare all night if she’d let him. And her hair.
05. Are they sexually confident or more of the shy type?
A bit of both? He doesn’t have the highest sex drive, so actively looking for sex isn’t happening often unless he’s in a steady relationship. He’s not the sort to look for one night stands. In the rare occasion that he does, he’s not ashamed of it, much less after the initial, possibly awkward stage has passed and it’s time to get down to business. He might get shy at first if it’s someone he really likes/admires, because he doesn’t want to screw things up. He wants things to be special, so he’ll be extra careful.
for Kieran:
20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?
Yes. Let me repeat that: yes. Kieran will tell you he was practically raised by a goat, and it’s true. Don’t ask me how goats survived in post-apocalyptic United States, but I’m calling it now, they survived, and Kieran’s family had a pet one. Her name was Myrtle. But farm animals were the only animals he had around growing up, dogs and cats not being very common in his village. Regardless, he loves all animals, though maybe not deathclaws or things that are bigger than him and have scales.
Radstags are his favorite, and he won’t kill a radstag if he has a choice. They are too adorable for that. He wants to have a pet radstag one day, but for now, he has D’Artagnan, a Maine Coon Cat. Sometimes they hunt together, go hiking together, and D’Artagnan is a big part of the reason why he lives so secluded - he wouldn’t forgive himself if anything happened to that cat. So he’d rather live far from people and somewhere D’Artagnan could hide if faced with danger and Kieran isn’t nearby.21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?
He’s afraid of tight/closed spaces, and ferals. That’s about it. Ferals he deals with easily enough - an arrow or a bullet, problem solved. Traps places and does his best to avoid them. The one time he got caught, he went into panic mode and doesn’t remember anything that happened after the first shot. Just remembers being back home, tending his wounds, with a lot of blood on his hands.
Regarding interiors/his claustrophobia, he just doesn’t go anywhere that looks cramped and doesn’t have a lot of windows unless he has company. Doesn’t matter if he knows there are things he needs inside. He just won’t go in.
22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?
I haven’t exactly decided on this, but in Skyrim, Kieran has a tattoo he got during his rite of passage with the Skaal - half a sleeve on his left arm. If he has a similar one in Fallout, I don’t know yet. But if there are two things Kieran has aplenty, it’s freckles and scars. You’ll find freckles all over his body, but it’s nowhere near Brandon’s level, for example. They’re mostly on his face and shoulders. As for scars, he has three claw marks on his face from a yao guai attack, claw marks on his back from a feral attack, bullet scars near his shoulder, and also one right between his right thigh and buttock. He got shot in the ass once. He has a bite mark on his ribs (mole rat, he can’t remember how it happened), and a half-moon shaped scar that begins just under his ribs on the left side, and goes down towards his crotch, that he got when he was with the raider gang. He seduced someone he shouldn’t have and they got a little, tiny bit angry when it became clear he didn’t want sex. They ran out of blade before they could do more damage, and he considers himself fairly lucky for it.
23. What is your character like when it comes to school? What subjects are they good/bad at? Do they get in trouble a lot or are well behaved?
Kieran never went to school, and while he did have people to teach him things, for the most part he didn’t want to learn. He was taught how to read and write, but didn’t learn out of stubbornness and a lack of discipline from his parents. He’d be good with science, though. Maybe philosophy. Wouldn’t do his homework, but wouldn’t misbehave.
24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like?
Fair warning, you would have a hard time getting Kieran to stop talking about them.
He wouldn’t shut up about how determined @njadastonearm Toni is - and how strong willed, and clever, and brave, and beautiful. I don’t think he’d ever vocalize it without some serious preparation beforehand, but she inspires him to try and do something out of his life. Here’s a woman that left her past behind, found herself a goal and went after it. That’s something he never had the courage to do, because he never managed to move on and still dwells in the past. Toni might be scared her past will catch up with her, yes, but she’s never let it stop her. He did. Being with her helps him learn a lot on how to do what he wants to do, rather than what he feels like he should be doing.
As for @mininuked Ahn - he sees that woman as a fucking goddess. A goddess of war, because he thinks she’s so goddamn badass. They butt heads sometimes, they learn together how to talk about their feelings, but there’s something about her that makes him feel like it’ll be worth all the trouble. She makes him want to try and that’s something no one had ever managed before. He feels like she gets him - they have the same interests, hobbies, they even have some of the same problems. She doesn’t have the answers, but it’s comforting to have someone to share the journey with. He’s used to being the rock for everyone - the one safe, solid thing people can count on. But with Ahn, for once he feels like he has someone strong and solid to support him.
25. Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?
Losing his sister. He never talks about it openly, and has never told anyone his side of the story. If pressed, he will actually give you his father’s, and consequently his village’s take on it: he sold out. His sister’s boyfriend found out about it. Kieran killed them both and dumped the bodies somewhere snowy and dark so they wouldn’t be found. Feral ghouls attacked him when he went back to check on the bodies for whatever reason.
The truth is quite a bit different: Saoirse’s boyfriend got in with a gang from Quebec - the same gang Kieran would ultimately join. His ticket in would be selling out the village, and the raiders promised they’d just rob them all blind but leave everyone alive. Kieran happened to witness a conversation in which said boyfriend revealed his plans - but after that, he has no idea what happened. He notices the two have disappeared one early morning and tracks them, only to find their bodies dumped in the aforementioned snowy, dark place, half buried and half eaten. He is then attacked by ferals who almost kill him. He reports back as quickly as he can, and is accused by his father of having killed his sister to take her place as the next village leader. Given he had some shady dealings with traders from nearby settlements, his reputation with his people wasn’t stellar at the time. Having someone as important as his father blaming him made it worse. He never tried to tell his version - he simply accepted his exile and left his family behind.
He still has nightmares with feral ghouls, and even though she was already dead when he got there, he swears he can hear Saoirse screaming sometimes. He feels like their deaths were his responsibility, and never forgave himself for it. This is why he lives in seclusion and, despite being a sociable, friendly man who loves talking to people, punishes himself by staying as far away as he can and never truly making friends.26. What is their lover like sexually? How do they feel about their lover’s quirks, needs, etc?
I’m going to give more of a generic answer here because Kieran is a curious creature. He doesn’t know himself well, sexually in particular. Practically speaking, this means he will always put his partner first, and rarely stops to consider what he actually likes. That “I’m so used to giving and now I finally get to receive” meme? Kieran, only until his love interests (Toni, Ahn) came along he’d never had anyone care about his pleasure. Not even himself. So whatever his lovers want, he will accommodate and do what it takes to please them. It’s important to note that he does it because he likes to, though. He’s not putting up with anything, he is just a genuinely accepting person who respects people and tries his best to make them happy.
27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it?
I have a hard time imagining Kieran getting arrested. Brandon? Hell, even Evangeline, but not Kieran. The only way he’d get arrested is if a) someone truly manages to piss him off enough for him to beat them up, or b) if a friend he really likes does something stupid and he plays along.
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for?
Realistically, I’d say his looks. But if he had a say in it, he’d like to become famous for his cooking. Cooking show shot in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Treats his guests like Gordon Ramsay treats children. A delight, really.
for Evan:
34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc)
Pre-war, Evangeline is addicted to baked sweets (cookies, cakes, pies) and noodles. Post-war, she refuses to eat anything pre-war for fear of getting seriously sick, but will cave if offered Sugar Bombs. She is also a big fan of mutfruit. Preston introduces her to mirelurk meat - and she loves it. She hates mirelurks, got seriously injured by one at some point; so eating the flesh of her enemies gives her a strange sense of accomplishment. Veni, vidi, vici, motherfucker.
35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?
She is and then she is not. She hates the idea of her death being meaningless, something stupid or unimportant. Because she gives it her all to try and make a difference, so if her death just slipped under everybody’s radar, that means she hasn’t done enough. There will come a time, though, when she will be satisfied with the work she’s done in the Commonwealth. Then it will stop having such a meaning - and her fearing death will be because she doesn’t want to let go of the life she’s managed to build for herself.36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?
Not exactly. Sometimes her left hand hurts a lot, because she once managed to stick a needle inside it while sewing. Other than that, she managed to stay perfectly healthy even after leaving the vault. Somehow.
37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?
She… Really likes to color code things. It annoys her a lot to see things being organized with no obvious pattern to it.
imma throw you off with this one, Gimmie some Sal & Lani
YOU CERTAINLY DID, but I like it. Here we go. Cut for length.
Who’s more likely to find who wearing their clothes?:
Feels to him like he's bound to find Leilani wearing his clothes at least once a day. And he doesn't mind it, not even a tiny bit.
Who enunciates hand holding?:
That would be Lani, because Sal wouldn't say anything about it, he'd just do it.
Who likes having their hair washed by who?:
Both! Bruno isn't exactly keen on letting anyone touch his hair, ever, but he'd be okay with it and would like to return the favor, as well. Wouldn't just help her wash it, though. Might offer to brush it, braid it, you name it.
Who likes to slow dance?:
Sal loves it. She gets a bit hesistant at first, but quickly gives in and enjoys it just as much.
Muse that’s more likely to fall asleep with their head in the others lap?:
Leilani, because he's all about those tender moments and having her resting on his lap. Lots of cafuné. Particularly during those long nights when he's keeping watch but she doesn't want to stray.
Muse that does all the cuddling in a blanket fort?:
While Bruno's all for the cuddling part, he wouldn't build a blanket fort. Mostly because the idea wouldn't hit him - he's never done that. He'd find the concept amusing, but would play along. Because cuddling.
Who hogs most of the covers at night?:
Much as he'd love to say it's Lani, they're both guilty of this. Bruno isn't a creature built for the cold, so he feels cold fairly often. He's prone to cuddling when he hogs the blankets, though, so it's a win-win.
Muse who nuzzles the others shoulder to get them to give them a head rub?:
I picture Leilani doing this somewhat often, because Sal's just too good at this. He might cave and ask for some quiet time having her run her fingers through his hair every now and again, though.
How do they share a dessert? Two forks or one?:
Two, though he wouldn't be fair, like, at all. He's that sort of guy who'll only have two or three spoonfuls but they count as half a dozen. Knows no shame.
Who gets jealous more easily?:
Sal, though I wouldn't call it jealously. He's confident enough that he wouldn't think she'd leave him for another, but he is very, very protective and quick to jump to conclusions, so it's not hard for him to see people as a threat. He's part guard dog.
Who gets angered more easily?:
Pff, Bruno. Given the right circumstances he's just a ball of rage. He won't let it show, though. His rage is quiet and he'll just stand there trying to get himself to see reason and not do anything stupid. If he lets that out, someone will probably find their teeth on the floor or worse.
How do they go to sleep at night?:
Pretty much tangled. If one of them doesn't go to bed with their hair pulled back there's a lot of it going on and neither mind it much. There's always one leg hooked over the other's hip or between the other's thighs.
Who gets the most shoulder rubs?:
Bruno. He's not very good at giving that sort of massage.
What are there arguments/fights like? How often do they fight?:
There are a lot of "I'm sorry"s after they're done, I can tell you that. He lets it all out in one go and then regrets it, while she keeps her cool and sort of tames his impulsiveness, in a way. That being said, they don't fight often.
Who is more likely to throw things in fights?:
Neither, and their fights never escalate to that sort of level. In general, Bruno is more likely to throw things, though. At other people. While fighting them. It's usually grenades.
How do they make it up to each other/apologize after an argument?:
They both apologize, no matter who started it or who technically "won" the fight. They're both aware arguments usually stem from factors that aren't directly related to their relationship, and if things went full on fight mode, they were mostly letting it all out on the other. So apologies. Quiet time together to cool off. Then dinner and cuddles in bed.
Do they have nicknames for each other?:
They're that disgusting couple who gives each other cute names. Sal has a bunch of nicknames in Portuguese for her, one cheesy word after another. Linda. Flor. Princesa. Rainha. Idk bro the cheesier the better. It all sounds good in his accent though.
Caring for each other while ill, how does the other muse go about it?:
Sal is a bit clueless on how to do it, though no one could say he wasn't trying. He'd dote on her endlessly. Baby would give his best.
Who’s more likely to be patching the others wound?:
Lani, because Bruno manages to get himself banged up every five seconds. He usually doesn't mind it, though. Figures if it didn't kill him it'll heal on its own.
Muse that says ‘I told you so’, after they come home from the beach and other muse is burnt to a crisp while whining how bad it hurts for not listening and putting on sunblock after the other muse repeatedly told them they’d get burnt?:
Lmao that'd have to be Sal, because he was practically raised by the beach. That's his shit right there. He be knowing.
Your otp has a newborn baby, who gets up in the middle of the night when he/she cries?:
Both would do it, but Sal would insist on doing it himself most of the time. Let her rest. It'd also help him get used to the idea of having a baby and caring for it so everyone benefits.
Your muse’s of the otp reaction to finding the others crying about something? And how do they make them feel better?:
Sal only cries when he's close to passing out after drinking far too much, and after he actually finds something to do with his life (and someone to share it with), he never reaches that point. He's fairly good at emotional support - he won't be able to give you the best advice you could get, but he'll hold you tight and listen if you need to talk. With Lani specifically, though, he likes to get her talking about pretty things. A memory she cherishes, a place she can't forget about. And then they sit together, cross legged on the floor, and she gives him details as he paints it and teaches her the finer points of it, too.
What would they be like as parents?:
They'd raise very kind, loving children. For all of his awkwardness Sal ends up being an excellent dad, though he tends to focus more on practical things and skills and give that touchy emotional support rather than useful advice. But Leilani makes up for that, teaches them compassion and teaches Sal how to be more openly affectionate as well. He's usually the one in charge of the more serious, harsher talks, though. It's a team effort but he takes the brunt of the work.
What would they have been like as childhood sweethearts?:
Awkward, to say the least. Sal was full of energy growing up. Climbing all the things. Hanging upside down from tree branches. He'd certainly drag her into lots of adventures and he'd purposedly take her to all the pretty places he could find.
Who initiates taking a bath together?:
Both! But Sal is very enthusiastic about it. Nevermind she decided to take a bath and he was not technically invited, he'll get naked in the blink of an eye and get in there.
Who likes who playing with their hair?:
Sal loves it when she plays with his hair, but both of them like it.
The place they mostly likely accidentally fall asleep together?:
The bed, boring as this may sound. Or somewhere under the stars, though he wouldn't allow that to happen often due to wasteland dangers and stuff.
