Ginger drinks.
Honeymansi Salabat
3 calamansi squeezed*
1 thumb luya peeled and sliced
3 tablespoons honey
Hot water
Combine for two servings, or 1 tumbler for the day.
Drink every morning for vitamin C, antioxidants, and to reduce cholesterol, inflamation, and nausea (AM Bode 2011).
The Philippines is the 10th largest producer of ginger worldwide. India is first (Dhanik et al. 2017).
*If outside the Philippines, substitute calamansi with 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Iced Salabat (Filipino Iced Ginger Tea)
L is for Luya! It is not only used to flavor dishes, but it is the main ingredient for salabat or ginger tea! An accessible and natural remedy for cough and colds.
Dad made ginger tea (salabat) and that did the trick. I don't enjoy the taste but it does wonders on my throat. I stopped coughing (up my lungs lol).
