My salamanders impulsor wip with freehanded emblem
WIP of a termy librarian
So i just had a bit of a realization on why the rouge trader era salamander color scheme is the way it is. It seems kind of obvious in hindsight that the salamanders would LOOK like a salamander, a thing that comes in all sorts of shapes sizes and colors. I mean the salamanders color their armor to look like the drakes (dragons in all but name) on nocturne that's why the salamanders are green now. but that line of thinking kind of implies that (in universe) the scheme was changed because the design of the drakes changed. Either that or its a subspecies or mutation or whatever that makes some drakes look like that. and a side effect of this realization is I really wanna see a dragon-drake whatever or whatever that looks like a real life salamander's "autumn camo". (i think the article i read on it was frustratingly vague) also this probably explains why the obviously camouflaged salamanders aren't listed as a camouflage variant in their original depiction. (bottom middle)
the space sharks directly to the right have a standard scheme and a camo variant. where the salamanders are just like that. Its not an intentional camouflage scheme they just saw one of the drakes on their home world and went "i wanna be like dat"
also I'm fairly certain the salamander (creature) the scheme is based off is poisonous and is one of those reptiles that brightly signal "HEY SHITBOOT! I'M POISONOUS, IF YOU EAT ME YOU WILL DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH" so does that mean the drakes on nocturne are poisonous (not venomous that's a different thing). If I eat a drake will I die? or the infinitely funnier possibility that the salamander space marines are poisonous in some way. some people lick bright poisonous toads to get a high. Could you do the same to a salamander?
This was a fun tangent to go down at near midnight. idk if anyone realized this before or im just being an Idiot but i'm fairly certain i'm onto something here
An saternine terminator I just finished painting. Gonna proxy it as a centurion in my 40k Salamanders army.
First Salamander in a couple of years
Day 18 Trying to stay on task challenge (impossible). Absolutely lock in working on the Gravis captain
Recently bought myself a second-hand land raider crusader (it's not a redeemer but a cheap land raider is a cheap land raider) and decided to paint it up a bit.
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
That's not it for the photos today as i've noticed i've been behind on letting you know what i've been up to so stay tuned! :)
Been working on a commission for my local LGS owner. Their 10th Edition army so far of Salamanders!
