Going it alone: In two agricultural towns, small farmers and ranchers face a pandemic without a safety net
And all I can do for the moment is to pray for them. But let this systemic fragility not be forgotten when covid passes.

2005
I didn't have my first actual boyfriend until 2005. I was 21. I was fresh out of being out of county jail for a month to finish my conviction for drug possession. This was around summertime. Anyway, I had a temp job as a receptionist for a packing company with weird hours (1pm-9pm) and also, this was the beginning of MySpace. That's how we met. Long story short, I was still doing drugs (well one drug) and trying to be a functioning addict while no longer hanging out with my usual brood. So having him in my life was refreshing. I'm a Scorpio and he's a Cancer. Which means that he was going to be hopelessly obsessed with me as male Cancers usually have been in my life. It was a short lived relationship and my addiction killed it off. Then I moved to Yuma, Az...started another relationship with theee worst person in the history of my life and I just lost touch with my first boyfriend. Anyway, today I was rummaging through an old journal and found notes he had left me and an email I printed out that had a a "get to know you quiz" with all his answers about me...and I almost cried because it really could have turned out to be a beautiful relationship for he both of us but I didn't let it happen. Moral of the story is, when you find a beautiful human being who will accept you for all your flaws, don't throw them away. From what I ever gathered from here when I last had Facebook in May, it seemed like he was off the edge...he had mental illness issues that were being controlled by meds and I'm sure he's off them. I've been wanting to reach out...because even though I apologized years ago for having been terrible at the end of our relationship...I still just wanted to say "hello". A married woman, mother of two. Just, hello.
