This might be out of left field, but would you ever do cover art for a novel as a commission?

Not out of left field at all! I've definitely been interested in painting covers in the past, and it's on my list to try at least a couple of mock-ups or fan covers in the new year. I think the biggest marks against me right now are that I don't have a lot of experience in painting humanoid characters (and from what I've seen, the fantasy, speculative, and sci-fi cover design spaces are very heavily focused on humanoids and/or machinery), but if somebody ever wanted a funky dragon or Beafte on their book, hit me up lmao

56. what's something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

eeeuuuggghhh okay Kai knows this better than most but I am very squeamish about the idea of praising myself 😂 I am truly my own worst critic but if forced I will say that I think I write short stories pretty well. quick & snappy oneshots are my bread & butter

What made you start writing?

honestly I've been writing in general for so long I don't remember what made me start. it's a cliche but I genuinely don't remember not being a reader or writer! I just really love to tell stories.

what made me start writing fanfiction specifically was when a book series I was obsessed with ended so horribly that I was immediately filled with the undeniable need to fix it. I think I spite wrote...two? three? more fics for that series to flesh out characters I thought had been given the shaft before I moved on to writing fics for books I loved. 😂

14. a fic you didn't expect to write

they all took me by surprise in some way, but mors immatura was supposed to be a fun little ficlet based on a handsome caitlyn week prompt, no more than 1k words, which then morphed into almost 25k words with a follow-up in the works 😅

admittedly the inspiration couldn't have come at a worse time, considering it threw off my entire writing schedule and coincided with the worst of both my writer's block and wedding planning. 😂 but luckily I still had a lot of fun writing it, and I'm very proud of the end product.

forcing myself to stop self-editing, and only because I’m terrible at it 😂

“first make it exist, then make it good” is great writing advice and I wish I was the kind of person who could follow it but alas, I am a chronic overthinker who will hone in on a sticky bit of writing and refuse to move on until I’m (mostly) satisfied
