Last summer, my hunk was going somewhere and spotted a good yard sale that he couldn’t pass up. Unfortunately, I was still at my 9 to 5. Frame Everything: Salon-Style Walls for $40.04

Okay, so my version of "salon-style" wall-hangings may be a bit anal retentive, but this feature wall was something that pleased me every time I came into my room. This was the beginning of it, and over 2 years I built it up until it stretched across an entire wall. Let's start with this for now:

1. Empty frame from Value Village ($4) with the 4 collector headshots of The Beatles from the White Album (priceless, really)

2. Wooden frame from the Dollar Store ($2) with a photo of Hilary and Michelle (35 cents)

3. Wooden frame from the Dollar Store ($2) with a photo of a cigar box full of feathers and American Spirits (35 cents - but don't smoke!!)

4. Glass frame from Value Village ($3) with a postcard of John and Yoko from when Caroline visited the bed-in exhibit in Montreal. (also priceless)

5. Wooden frame from the Dollar Store ($2) with an eerie photo of my reflection in a glass door peeking over Moira's shoulder. (35 cents)

6. Wooden frame from the Dollar Store ($2) with a glam shot of Hilary, Sarah, Sheena and me (35 cents and however much the wine cost!)

7. Two frames from Wal-Mart for $6/each with a collage of wallpaper swatches from an old Style At Home ($6). I'll post about this project a little later - I was obsessed with these when they were around.

8. Frame from Value Village ($5) (mat included!) with an 8x10" copy of my favourite photo I've ever taken entitled "Family Portrait" that not only displays the beauty that is Jesse and Moira, but it also showcases how stellar Jesse's styling and design skills are (99 cents - and you can look forward to that photo later on!)

In total, this wall cost: $40.04

I wish that I could see George Condo's Mental States at the New Museum. Here's a review from the NY Times with shots of the exhibition. I love the salon-style grid. In my future house, I want to have a grid of art with a couch and no TV so I can enjoy my collection when I come home from work.
