Derbyshire Tennis Group Screening

Yesterday ladies from Derbyshire Tennis clubs had a private screening of not one, but two versions of Alex Kirkland and Rob Rafalat’s film SMASH, based on the ladies insights and personal anecdotes of playing tennis in your 60’s and beyond. Both versions were unfinished and an opportunity for them to gain a deeper insight into the editing process and decisions involved, as well as provide their feedback and input before the final edit of the film. All the ladies found the screenings entertaining and thoroughly enjoyed each version.

An insight to the life of a Storm Trooper

This film is made by Director Rhys Davies and is part of the research he undertook with the 99th Garrison earlier this year. Filming for Rhys’ film begins next week and will include members of the Garrison.

Editing workshop with Doug Smith

Shine a Light participants have recently taken part in an editing workshop with Shine A Light producer and local film maker Doug Smith (Smith & Smith). Those taken part found it to be a great learning experience and would “make watching film much more interesting”

Directing for Camera workshop with Owen Tooth

Shine A Light participants recently worked with local director Owen Tooth (Devil’s Tower) in our Directing Actors for Camera workshop. They were joined by professional actors and explored the themes and relationships from Seen ‘Ya Rights script My Secret Love”.

Derbyshire Tennis Club Members Script Readthrough

Over 60′s members of Derbyshire Tennis Clubs met with their directors Alex Kirkland and Rob Rafalat last week to read the script for their film SMASH. Some of the ladies are currently in London on set for filming, with more to come on their experience.

Behind the Scenes in Preparing for My Secret Love

“My Secret Love”, Shine A Light group Seen ‘a Rights original story for the project, had a fantastic reception at Derby Theatre last week. Although only a short 10 minute R&D performance, it sparked a wealth of conversation and debate over the rights and roles of those living and working in the elderly care industry.

The work was directed by Ava Hunt and starred Maggie Ford, Lotte West-Oram, David Whittington and Maxine Finch.

We look forward to see where this story goes in future.
