[I loose a year of my life every time I search Alex Wesker and get an eyeful of art or fanfiction that pairs her up with her own brother.

The way in which fans seem to utterly refuse to unpack the relationship between Albert and Alex without heavily sexualizing it is just so exhausting. It feels as if it's the only angle that most fans take right now.

I especially loathe the way "well they aren't really related" is treated as a kind of gotcha to excuse away the weird mishandling the fanbase took with them. Look, whether they share blood or not, the games made it pretty damn clear. The painting seen in her game conveys familiarity between the two that is clearly not romantic or intimate. She refers to Albert MULTIPLE times as her brother. In general I really get worn out by the refusal to explore sibling-dynamics in fandom without taking a sharp left turn towards the hills.

I see Albert and Alex as siblings but in a bitter-bordering-on-violent rivalry sort of way. In the "I reluctantly acknowledge you are capable but I will DIE before I ever admit you're better than me" sort of way. I feel so damn alone In the thought that they likely do see each other as siblings in their connection and are incapable of ever regarding one another in a sexual way. ]

It’s better than what I’ve seen from EH shippers, which is “Mikasa is psychologically disturbed!” and “this is an unhealthy relationship!” it’s not a relationship one of them’s dead.

I really think the majority of EH shippers (well, specifically those who thought Eren and Historia would reign happily with their baby in a destroyed world; plenty of EH shippers actually write really great metas and analyses including one of my fave meta blogs) never understood this series or its themes.

Satellite Love Interest

//I do not like it if a character's only distinct trait is to simply provide romance (ESPECIALLY HETERO ONES) to characters. It's crummy to just...write a character to randomly fall in love with someone cuz romance is idealized in media. And then that said someone doesn't do much beyond the smoochies.

//Though it is nice if the satellite love interest ends up developing their own personality~! Always gotta find a perk in some situation! Also I should add I don't like it when folks assume that just 'cause two characters care for each other doesn't mean romance! Especially in the cases of mentor/mentee and siblings. Goodness gracious, unbalanced power dynamics and in.cest isn't my cup of tea. Platonic bonds should be appreciated more...and I need to remind myself of that too!
