In April 2016, the former 100 actor claimed that he was bullied off the show by the executive producer. "Jason Rothenberg abused his position to make my job untenable," Whittle said at the time. "What he did was disgusting and he should be ashamed. He was professionally bullying me, cutting out all the storyline that I was supposed to be doing, cutting lines, trying to make my character and myself as insignificant as possible to the point where it was starting to get me down." Rothenberg only responded with a statement wishing Whittle well in the future.
While Whittle says he doesn't really talk about his controversial exit from The 100 anymore, the 35 year-old actor didn't hold back from expressing how he really feels about Rothenberg in a recent interview with GQ.
"[Rothenberg is] a disgusting human being ... who I don't need to be around anymore," he told the magazine. "I removed myself from a very negative person."
Ultimately, it all worked out for Whittle, who is now playing lead character Shadow Moon on the TV series American Gods, which is based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman.
