Uncommon Relationship Dynamics
Relationships that’re already in place before the story starts.
Relationships that begin long before the halfway mark, where the characters develop together for the rest of the story.
Happy threesomes.
Relationships with nonstraight and noncis characters.
Battle couples in which each half is equally badass.
Domestic relationships, but without the gender expectations associated with domesticity (male breadwinner, only the woman looks after the kids, men are super incompetent at chores, etc).
Relationships where typical gender expectations are casually reversed. Congrats, the woman’s now the confident breadwinner, and the man’s a happy stay-at-home dad — and not once does anyone call this weird.
Relationships that begin with a real “so what are we?” conversation instead of just A Big Kiss or a Big Crush Reveal.
Relationships where all involved characters are well-developed and a delight to be around.
If I see the term “typical shoujo” or “typical magical girl” one more time,I’m going to burn something.
Oh WOW you hated Avengers Endgame? You must be so COOL and COUNTERCULTURAL. You must be a real Free Thinker. Disliking things just because other people like them sure is a great replacement for a personality :)
The s8 fix-it fics/art for Sheith, the ones where Keith looks for/finds/ends up with either a clone or an alternate version of Shiro, have been bothering me and I finally figured out the words for why.
It isn't Shiro. Obviously, but also... maybe not obviously? In these, Keith is in love with the idea of Shiro, his concept, so a happy ending is possible for him even when og!Shiro isn't around. That does a disservice to both of them.
Shiro has consistently been used, replaced, and swapped around in canon. His character is already deeply upset by this.
Keith's bond with Shiro, however you read it, is deeper than just... going off and getting himself a new one? What does that even say about Shiro? About Keith?
They were "I'm never giving up on you" and "as many times as it takes." Keith *knows* how much Shiro has been ignored, turned away, how what he wants and what he is capable of are dismissed. His disease may have been limiting, but so were others' perceptions based on it. No, Shiro can't be a pilot. No, Shiro can't go to Kerberos. The thing with Adam, who wanted a version of Shiro who didn't exist, one who didn't need the stars. One who could be happy living the rest of his time on Earth. The galra dehumanized him. Haggar created an untold number of disposable versions of him, left them with his scars and trauma, and mind-controlled Kuron. (Who then died after learning he wasn't og!Shiro and had been forced to do horrible things) He had his soul transplanted into the body of someone who had been him in all but soul, and had been used like a puppet to hurt those he loved.
Keith knows all of this.
With both alt!Shiro and clone!Shiro, but ESPECIALLY clone!Shiro (literally built to replace him!) it's like... the Shiro Keith wanted isn't around, is broken, so he just goes and what? Resets the game? Gets a fresh slate of Shiro? (And how unfair to the clone/alt, too! Second choice because real!you didn't work out?)
The more I write, the more angry I get with these versions of Keith. Shiro doesn't owe him love. (Even though it's clear that they care about each other and the past seasons did them wrong along with everyone else) If Shiro is Keith's One True Love, the only one for him, why does it count to go find a *different* Shiro? How does that work!?
It makes Keith into this weird, shallow creeper. And he's not. We've seen that Keith would and will put aside his own safety and feelings for Shiro. As long as Shiro is safe and happy. Does he want more? Sure, who wouldn't? But he respects Shiro, his choices and his actions. He supported Kerberos. He never doubted Shiro's competence, physical or otherwise. If Shiro decides he can do the thing, Keith is going to support him in doing the thing. He might voice concerns about the situation, he might wish there were better options, but he sides with Shiro. He trusts that Shiro knows himself and his limits better than someone else could. And he's there as back up, his right hand, working with him.
So when Shiro becomes this replaceable figure and Keith goes from loyal and loving to obsessive and willing to take any Shiro-alike, it feels very ooc at best.
Be salty about how the characters were treated in canon, about how poorly things were handled. About how we don't even get Curtis's name in show without subtitles, let alone any backstory or bonding there. About how the Red and Black paladin relationship was built up and then dropped to no more than work acquaintances. If you need to be salty, be salty. If you need to weave a different ending, do it!
You can write/draw what you want. But when you go to create something to feel better, to fix it, maybe think about if there are things that would have bothered you on screen in your work.
Now that I'm playing dps a lot more I realise it was only naivety and blind sportsmanship that got me into tank/support flexing for so long. I see now that I was a fool and that far too many dps mains will sink a perfectly winnable match because they won't counter switch or.... play the game at all with their team, really.
Shame on y'all.
I know in Opening Dialogue we haven’t met much of Darth Gallus yet but I don’t care I love him he is a precious snarky angerbean please protect him and also here have a doodle of him chatting with Astele in some sort of flashback or something, I don’t know
Quality is poor, hands hurt, arthritis is a bitch, can’t draw anything detailed, blah blah etc. etc. but at least it’s something ok
