2014 smap highlights/recs

02/10 SxS bistro ishihara satomi, mizukawa asami, mizuhara kiko somehow p boring ep where kimura calling himself the onscreen makeout king is the only thing i remember 02/17 SxS bistro where the whole thing is p funny but that’s prob bc i watch other jvariety. guests are recently divorced nishikawa-sensei & suzuki sarina + ET chris hart 02/24* SxS another solid full bistro with e-girls + ES/ET with these 2 comedians whose thing is a pervy ish song called “moshikashite da kedo” that they change the lyrics to ft gorotsu saying they want to sleep with kimura/shingo respectively this time 03/02 teretou sp smap comes to tv tokyo (the station that aired ai rabu smap) for the first time in years and shit talk it the whole time while forced to watch embarrassing old footage 03/09 tereasa sp basically replaced ganbarimasu this year. nakai is a backdancer for kisumai, shingo is a smaste ad, & tsuyoshi …has an intense ep of pussuma i don’t remember well i think it was set in the sengoku jidai or something and worked as a tie-in for kimura’s drama sp miyamoto musashi 03/24 SxS tamori bistro tsu lifts his drinking ban! 03/31 iitomo grand finale. i’ve never been the biggest iitomo fan but the whole last week of iitomo’s worth a watch just because it’s iitomo 04/07 heyheyhey iitomo talk (downtown talks about tunnels! barely, but still) and then a balancing a book on your head while making a cute face competition 04/12 cdtv i just always like the cdtv intros 05/05 SxS bistro sakagami shinobu (a former child actor who’s been really active in variety this year talking shit & drunk half the time. think ariyoshi but rougher haha) + ES kishidan 05/19 SxS some terahouse og members (in my head this show is basically big brother but done with celebrities) the only good part of this bistro is shingo as tswift + ES ulfuls with my fave perf on smasma this year 05/26* SxS bistro with 3 young kabuki actors (nakamura kankurou, nakamura shinousuke, onoe matsuya) that last kid is hilarious he keeps talking back to smap & is a big fan of shoot so he makes kimura say his famous line from it 06/16 SxS that new technology corner again it’s not as cool as the first time but it’s still p cute watching shingo get mad at a robot for asking him about his love life + ET aiko. tsu gets in trouble for tying his shoe in the middle of the perf 06/23 SxS smap has their fortunes read from their face 07/10 kuwazugirai kimura vs kitagawa keiko 07/14 nep league hero 2 cast 07/14 SxS bistro hero 2 full cast (all of this hero promo is basically on here if you’re a kimura fan haha it’s not like any of it is must watch variety but y’know) 07/20 cdtv again just the little vtr at the start 07/26-27 FNS 27 hr tv oh boy here we go hosted by smap (for the first time! tho nakai’s hosted like 7-8 times and shingo once and they appear in most of it even when they aren’t hosting) so watch all of it… jk. must see parts in order: intro, mechaike, wide na show*, sanma nakai konya mo nemurenai, mezamashi* (that was that bath thing i saw you reblog recently lol), bistro, tamori x smap, surprise project*, sanma x smap, live, walking thingie after the live*, finale. yeahhh… i can break down the times or tell you which files if you want me to later haha. *s denote actual must watch. 08/02 ongaku no hi this music show is 13 hours long and hosted by nakai ha but the only parts i think worth watching aren’t even smap’s full perf. i cut out the talk + start of koko kara & here’s a perf of amazing discovery. 08/13 fns music festival i think there’s a smap cut on smapxmedia that has tsu’s hosting bits cut into it too 09/01 SxS bistro with kanda sayaka & may j. cute if you don’t hate frozen + one piece king battle 09/04 sakigake ongaku banzuke 8 smap complaining about the lack of budget and thought put into this music show 09/08* SxS bistro has mori izumi + her little sister being hella informal and fun + ES with miyavi (just top of the world tho) 09/19 bokura no ongaku boring lol but it's the final episode 09/22 ganbatta taisho hosted by tsu as usual but with kimura in the studio. the most interesting part was an anecdote about goro scolding tsu for something that happened during 27 hr tv that i can cut out for ya. 10/06 SxS sp with a double bistro (first is sawajiri erika, second is nobunaga concerto cast) which was good but my fave part of this ep is this guerrilla promo for 7/11 during which nakai asked ppl which member they hate without them knowing smap was there (cut)10/10 pussuma this appeals to me on a personal level as a morning musume fan but tsu has to dance to a mm song if that’s something you’d be interested in watching haha 10/10 kinsma the annual farming special 10/27 SxS bistro sekai no owari + zawachin did makeup for each member to make them look like a different member. super cool. 11/05 mado nakai being a jerk to people who love their pets 11/10 SxS bistro mino monta who i hate but he gets really drunk so that’s entertaining + ES mr s 11/17 SxS bistro was entertaining and all (sumire + her mom matsubara chiaki) but my fave part was the ES/ET with okamura yasuyuki things scheduled for december: 12/3 fns music festival, 12/23 sansma, 12/24 ojamappu (w/ tsu), 12/26 mssl, 12/29 heyheyhey,12/31 kouhaku, 12/31 cdtv i think that’s nearly everything i liked this year. and this is me trying to keep things short... the asterisks next to certain smasma episode dates mark my top bistros of the year. in general there weren't really many proper ending talks. half or more of them were cut and only sometimes in babysma as 30 seconds of unaired footage. but yeah the number one to watch thing this year if last year was the 5 member trip is definitely 27 hour tv. unfortunately it's 27 fucking hours long .__.

For that episode, yes there is! On youtube search “sushishowfan radio prank” and it should be the first video that pops up. If you want to search for the song, look up “hamada chicken rice”, it’s been translated as well.

The story they hear probably isn’t true, but considering the fact they grew up in poverty and the song that was played after, it’s easy to understand how they were moved to tears (although I’m surprised Udo didn’t crash his car from his reaction)

No shit, I've watched 17 episodes in like, 4 days. That's total burnout pace for my standards. IT'S ALL THE SUSPENSE AND THOSE GODDAMN CLIFFHANGERS, THO. ;; I doubt I'll be caught up by Sunday, but I'll most probably be for the finale! \o/ I hope so, at least.

As my fiendish marathoning may show, I'm digging it quite a lot so far. It's definitely more "American" than what I'm used to (remember, I only watch Who, GoT and jdramas) but there are so many charas with their own stories and personalities and it's not like anyone is black or white, really. Even Merle or Shane (whom I admit I started out plain hating and although I understand him now and boy's got a truckload of issues, I still can't support 100%) or even little Carl. It's suspenseful but also handles moral dilemmas and that's pretty much my kind of show. Hope it keeps up the quality in the future seasons.

P.S. Everytime Carol and Daryl are breathing the same air I start wishing I had no feelings. I don't ship them romantically in the least, but jkdlsf;kdlskfa;'as THE FEELINGS. THE BONDING. Why don't you rip my heart from my chest rn. ;A;A;A;

I love their scenes they don’t really talk much but I love their dynamic and how they obviously don’t like each other lol, when Merle saved him, and Rick looks back and Merle is behind him laughing like an idiot and Rick gives him that look of disgust it’s too funny, they’ve started so bad remember in guts when Merle punched him, then Rick gun whips him and chains him to the damn roof -rightfully so he was being a crazy prick- and that’s how Merle loses his hand… then they meet again on the road Merle won’t shut up and Rick pistol-whips him again lol, I love how Merle still calls him sheriff, in the preview of next episode he tells him something like you are cold as ice officer friendly just what he told him on the roof remember? Merle asks who the hell are you man? and Rick says officer friendly
