BLEACH IS GOING TO BE THE DEATH OF ME
Well. I'm caught up with everything now.
And dammitall I have so many fucking feels. Let me just recap over everything that's happened recently.
Reading Ichigo as he was talking to his father and finally learning about the fact that his mother was in fact a Quincy, I was hit with so many realizations of what happened behind the scenes. First and foremost, Ichigo was truly born in the dark. Throughout his entire life, he's been fed a load of misinformation--or a complete lack thereof. He had never known about the fact that his mother was a Quincy, and the true reason that she died. For nine whole years, his dad covered up the actual truth, not letting him know what had happened even when Isshin knew Ichigo blamed himself for Masaki's death.
I don't know about you, but I think that's just a tad fucked up.
Then, after he had to accept the fact that he was half Quincy, he was also told that he had Juha Bach's blood flowing through his veins because of the fact that all Quincies originated from him. So now we, as the readers, know that Ichigo's probably going to have to pull out his Quincy powers to defeat his great, great, great, great--I don't know how many damn 'great's--grandfather in battle soon.
And then as he moved on back to the Soul Society to forge a new weapon, he was smacked in the face with yet another lie he'd been fooled into believing. Zangetsu had never been Zangetsu at all. He was just an old rendition of Juha, but at the same time, not. He was the source of Ichigo's Quincy powers, which he'd been hiding all along.
Which meant his hollow and shinigami powers both derived from his hollow, which imposter 'Zangetsu' had fooled him into believing that he was the enemy the entire Bleach series.
Just take a moment to look back on all of the times that Ichigo needed help with a fight, and he called on Zangetsu for help, when it was really Shiro that had been doing all the work the entire time. And for that same period of time, Ichigo had been under the false assumption that he had to push his hollow aside and focus on his power, when his hollow was his power.
Let me now add the fact that after the two new Zangetsu are formed, Ichigo declares the fact that he'll never use Zangetsu or his hollow in a fight again, and from there on out, all of his power will derive from himself. This seems almost seems tragic to me because now, Ichigo is completely on his own. He's always had someone by his side when he fought, except for his latter fight with Aizen, and I feel like Kubo is using this as foreshadowing that he will have no one to fight with him this time.
