Salvage Packaging vs. Overpacks: What’s the Difference?
Two terms are frequently used in the transportation of hazardous materials: salvage packaging (sometimes referred to as a salvage drum) and overpack. Though often used interchangeably, these two terms are distinctly different from each other with unique definitions and regulations for use within the Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR).
