I would really like to post more about my original characters. If this post gets even five notes I'll post a drawing. If anyone cares enough, I'll post the one they request (names in the tags).

Alice stares at herself in the mirror. Slowly, she closes her fist, one finger at a time, watching her mechanical joints move. When she was human, her fingers moved in tandem, natural muscles strung together simply because they have no need to be separate. The metal scratches against itself, creating a noise just barely audible. The door creaks as it opens, and the sound is enough to startle her out of her trance.
“Why are you sitting in the dark?”
“I don’t need the light.”
Sam sits down next to her.
She turns to look at him but says nothing. She scans him, testing for irregularities. Heart rate: 71 bpm. Temperature: 98.2 degrees fahrenheit. Blood pressure: 120/79. Hormones at expected levels. Further inquiry required.
“I don’t understand.”
He looks back at her, his eyebrow raised with a question.
“Why are you here?”
“You seemed upset. And you don’t like being alone. So, now you’re not.”
She stares at him. “I see.” She pauses. “Can I see your hand?”
He reaches out to her, holding his hand palm up. She traces his finger tips, noting the difference between the roughness of his calloused fingertips and softer palms. She places her hand underneath his, and uses the other to close his fist.
“Your hands are warm,” he says.
“So are yours.”
Meet the big man himself, Sam Baxter. He is currently contemplating whether he wants steak or ribs tonight.
Do any of your OC's like to box or are any trained in martial arts? :)
Sam learned took up boxing for awhile. It came in handy in his former line of work, but he left that life behind him.
Thanks, Bethany.
1-10 for all of them, please!
Ok! *pops neck* Let’s do this!
Nick:
Age- 19
Gender- Male
Orientation- Straight
Height- 5′8
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Brown hair, Blue eyes
Disabilities- None
What does their name mean?
I named him after Nicolas from Acts 6:5 because I wanted him to have a Bible name but there isn’t really any special meaning.
What makes them, them?
Nick is a man of principle. His beliefs and values are an intrinsic part of who he is. He is well characterized by his intelligence as well.
What do they want to do with their lives?
He wants to finish up his degree then begin pursuing a career in the field of bio-engineering so he can help cancer patients and amputees. However, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
Jackie:
Age- 14
Gender- Female
Orientation- Straight
Height- 5′0
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Black hair, Gray eyes
Disabilities- None…
What does their name mean?
Jackie is short for Jacklyn. I just liked the name.
What makes them, them?
Jackie is caring and loyal, She would do anything for those she loves and will always stick by their side. She is also incredibly artistic and creative.
What do they want to do with their lives?
Jackie aspires to be a novelist, but she also sees an optimistic future in the fashion design industry.
Sam:
Age- 28
Gender- Male
Orientation- Straight
Height- 6′1
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Brown hair, Green eyes
Disabilities- *see Emily*
What does their name mean?
I named Sam specifically after Samson from the book of Judges. There are a couple of parallels in their stories so that’s why I chose it.
What makes them, them?
Sam is your regular manly, man. A, “Roll up your sleeves, get in the dirt, build with your hands” kind of guy. He’s tough, he’s diligent, and if you mess with his family, watch out.
What do they want to do with their lives?
Sam is a simple guy. He is doing what he loves working as a mechanic in his own garage. All he wants is to be a faithful provider and a good husband, father, and friend. But we don’t always get what we want in life.
Emily:
Age- 27
Gender- Female
Orientation- Straight
Height- 5′7
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Blonde hair, Hazel eyes
Disabilities- Sam and Emily cannot have children. (One may not consider this a disability but I thought it was a notable fact about something in which my characters lack so I decided to include it.)
What does their name mean?
Full disclosure, I named Emily after Jack Allen’s wife from Adventures in Odyssey. His story about her really hit me in the feelings center and I felt like her name would work well for this character.
What makes them, them?
Emily is the sweetest, most compassionate and loving person you will ever meet. Everyone that meets her feels like they have come home. She won’t be satisfied until every stomach is full of food and every heart is full of love.
What do they want to do with their lives?
Her dream is to own her own restaurant, trying out new recipes and meeting new people. Her family, however, will always come first.
Andrew:
Age- 15
Gender- Male
Orientation- Straight
Height- 5′3
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Blonde hair, Brown eyes
Disabilities- Partially deaf in one ear.
What does their name mean?
I just liked the name.
What makes them, them?
Andrew is quietly introverted. He doesn’t open up to people easily and tends to stay inside his own head, finding peace in music. His past was rough on him, but he is learning to grow and become more accustomed to relationships now that he has a new life.
What do they want to do with their lives?
He would like to pursue a career in the music business. He is musically gifted and his future looks promising, if he can overcome his crippling stage fright.
Makayla:
Age- 15
Gender- Female
Orientation- Straight
Height- 5′3
Race- Caucasian
Hair/Eye color- Blonde hair, Brown eyes
Disabilities- None
What does their name mean?
It just kind of fit. I thought it suited her.
What makes them, them?
Makayla is remarkably outgoing and extroverted. She is social and makes friends easily, but her optimistic demeanor often becomes a mask to cover her pain. Spending time with her closest friends, though, can always brighten her day.
What do they want to do with their lives?
She is looking forward to becoming a licensed cosmetologist and opening her own beauty salon.
Whew! That was quite the ask! Thanks so much for the inquiry, @aquamiriam. I truly appreciate the interest. Keep the questions coming!
Ok, 11 for Emily. 27 for Sam. 35 for Andrew. 44 for Mikayla. 19 for Nick. 22 for Jackie.
11: What are your OC’s hobbies?
Emily’s hobbies include cooking and baking as well as gardening.\
27: What kind of childhood did your character have?
Sam had a great childhood, two loving parents, great friends, a healthy home, a good education. He appeared to have everything going for him in his younger days.
35: How is your character’s imagination? Daydreaming a lot? Worried most of the time? Living in memories?
Andrew is pretty quiet and tends to spend most of his time in his own head. He doesn’t like to dwell on his memories as many of them aren’t pleasant, but he invests a considerable amount of time on his music. It helps him make sense out of everything.
44: How does your character react/accept criticism?
Makayla tries to take it in stride with people that she trusts, but when she latches onto an idea, it can be hard to talk her out of it.
19: What kind of music do they listen to? Do they have a favorite song?
Nick doesn’t listen to music all that often, but will on occasion play something classical when he wants to get work done.
22: What kind of student were they/would they be in high school?
Jackie is an excellent student at her high school. She is studious and creative and her best subject is English.
Thank you!
