Easily one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking scenes in the movie

When Sam 5 finally drives out of range of the signal jammers and is able to call his daughter and finds that 15 years have gone by, there's already a Sam Bell at home, meaning that he has no home to go back to

God it's just so fucking sad watching a man already beaten down by his three-year isolation and reveal that he's a clone, whose only want in the whole world is to go back home to see his wife and daughter, finding out it was never even an option to begin with. That he never even had a home to begin with. "I just want to go home" being his desperate and frustrated and completely exhausted plead, only for the camera to snap to the outside of the rover, panning slowly over to the Earth, and showing exactly how far away he is from home. How isolated. How trapped.

I think it's so interesting how Sam 5, when he finds that the smiley faces on the bathroom wall were erased, he frantically goes to redraw them to replace them. And he mutters "Two weeks, two weeks, two weeks..." while he does it

I have a feeling this is implying that he kind of goes crazy with losing track of how many days have gone by and the drawing faces thing is a coping mechanism to try and keep track of how many days he has left until he gets to go home, like a self-reassurance thing that it's okay, this is going to end soon, it's only two more weeks

If that isn't indicative of a desperate human being I have no idea what is

Love that scene where Sam 5 is asking Gerty "Am I a clone?"

And Gerty just stares at him and asks "Are you hungry?" as a distraction

Firstly I love that Gerty's method of distraction is just blatantly ignoring the question and offering him food, like he's not even good at dodging the question lmao

But secondly: obviously clones aren't supposed to know that they're clones but I also think that in a sense Gerty knows that clones being aware that they're clones would irreparably damage their psyche, and because Gerty is supposed to help with and take care of the clones, he avoids telling them to try and spare their mental health
