In my opinion everyone should read "The mountain god sleeps on its back", if only for Thorn, the lovable loyal horse-sized lizard companion:

But we weren’t technically lost in the forest last time. Only avoiding ghosts to get to where we needed to be. It will be better this time. I promise.” Thorn’s tail swished side to side as he bid farewell to the sun on his scales.

"The mountain god sleeps on its back" by Sam Farren is a kind of gentle thoughtful fantasy adventure book that left me wanting a sequel, like immediately, right this second. Although begrudgingly I have to admit the ending is fitting and satisfying all around.

Hey uhhh go read literally anything by Sam Farren especially if youre looking for fantasy novels with lgbt representation - plenty of lesbians, but also transgender and nonbinary characters! (Including non-binary lesbians! There are characters that use they/them pronouns! One character even uses magic to help people transition!)

I’ve only read Bitfrost but I’ve heard amazing things about the dragonoak trilogy and I can’t wait to start it! Bitfrost just has a diverse cast, likeable characters, and does a great job of exploring trauma / neurodivergency... not to mention! The plot itself is a bit slow but wow it keeps you hooked once it kicks in, there’s a lot of wild twists, some really cool lore and worldbuilding! Can’t wait for the prequel too!

(Also worth mentioning - the author is a non-binary lesbian! They’re also an independent author, so give sam farren your love!)
