In my opinion everyone should read "The mountain god sleeps on its back", if only for Thorn, the lovable loyal horse-sized lizard companion:
“Here we are again,” Laslin said as the long shadows of trees reached out to them. “Are you ready for this?” Thorn tilted his head to the side, one eye fixed on her. “I know, I know. But we weren’t technically lost in the forest last time. Only avoiding ghosts to get to where we needed to be. It will be better this time. I promise.” Thorn’s tail swished side to side as he bid farewell to the sun on his scales.
"The mountain god sleeps on its back" by Sam Farren is a kind of gentle thoughtful fantasy adventure book that left me wanting a sequel, like immediately, right this second. Although begrudgingly I have to admit the ending is fitting and satisfying all around.
