Slim Beauty Knot
The Slim Beauty Knot refers to every longing of man and woman recorded throughout history. It is the longing for a moment free from time and its cold meter. It is the pained desire for a place with no loss. The Slim Beauty Knot ties down all things wanted and loved so they will never be missed. It is the lightest knot, and the most forgiving. The Slim Beauty Knot holds you and never forgets you. The Slim Beauty Knot has dark eyes. It is the quiet, warm breath between happening and appreciating. It is a length of rope treated with wax and made to last forever.

The Standard of Fame
Where's the bar? Where's the cutoff for what's acceptable and viewed or listened to as decent? At what point do we as Americans say, "this is too mediocre. there's no meaning behind this, and it shouldn't be famous". I will venture to say that the "standard of fame" has vanished. Or at least, the standard of fame cuts off not at the top, but at the bottom. It seems that any form of media that should be promoted ends up being cast out for reasons that middle schoolers could have come up with. What is being produced and loved these days are products of the "f*** you" way of living, the "party all the time and not care about authoritative figure because we're infinite" mindset, and ultimately, vanity. Promiscuity is advocated, getting drunk and completely destroying yourself is socially accepted, when lifestyles that carry structure and meaning are thrown away because it's too "old fashioned". This is the "new generation". We think we've come so far, when really, we've receded to a point where anyone who knows where to find a studio and has a couple of dollars from their summer job can write about how "retarded" they got the night before, add some autotune, and some repeats of first or last syllables and make the Billboard Top 100. We promote anarchy, yet claim autonomy. The Mainstream used to carry substance. Pop Music used to require talent. Songwriting used to have structure, it used to be about what was written, and what could be taken from that song. Artists people consider "amazing" these days are twenty to thirty-something year-old writers who take cliche after cliche, put it to some acoustic guitar or ukulele, and market it to 15 year old girls, or, are women acting like eighth graders, worrying about wether or not a song is "danceable".
This was written on a whim. This barely has any form, and it was just kind of me ranting. I know the form of media that took up the majority of this post was music, but this applies to every form of media that i've been exposed to recently. I just want to close with something I've been noticing lately, and that is: Every new pop sensation is more vapid than the one before it. Unless we keep meaningful, moral, selfless, and honest media alive, there isn't any hope for the generations to come. I really don't want to see my grandkids grow up in a generation who idolizes people who will eventually be worse than Ke$ha, "The Situation", Lady Gaga, or Lindsay Lohan.
