Hello hello at my sapphic horror enjoyers it’s been two days since VE Schwabs Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil came out, have you read it yet??? It’s 500 pages of gory tragic fun— personally I like it more for its settings and characters than its plot (I had a really good time reading it but the ending felt a little fast for me and I didn’t think it was quite as strong as say Addie LaRue or Vicious in terms of finishing blow) but I would recommend if you are a fan of women and their wrongs.

andante, andante by @gretasmokerising features giggly and goofy sam wooing you by teaching you how to play piano, truly one of the most endearing versions of sam i've ever read.

praise by @mywaysoon is short but so incredibly sweet, and the writing is so vivid and light and gentle. this sam has such a vulnerability to him that i love and adore.

locked out by @golden-van-fleet is one of the first sam fics i ever read, and it's still one of my favorites, especially when i'm feeling overwhelmed. suffice it to say that sam is a very sweet and patient boyfriend in this one, and it's perfect if you're going through it a bit.

Just finished the Hollow Places and I know I’m beating this point to death but ough T. Kingfisher is one of the best to do it in terms of contemporary horror.

The Hollow Places is loosely based on/almost a soft sequel to Algernon Blackwoods short story the Willows, but you don’t need to be familiar with the original at all in terms of jumping in to Kingfisher’s book. Just like in A House With Good Bones, she effectively writes jumpscares in a way I rarely see executed well, and she has such a way of building tension… even before the real horror of the book got underway, I started to feel so uneasy that I had to stop reading one night after dark, which usually isn’t an issue for me! Highest praise!

If you’re looking for a fun, engaging read with some eldritch horror (and I do mean actually eldritch— these characters do not know what the fuck they’re dealing with and neither do you) and a really good pair of leads that I was immediately attached to, read this book. And then go back and read the rest of Kingfishers horror lineup. I’m begging.

Unrelated I can really see this as a 2-d animated movie or mini series. Someone give me money let me adapt this the visuals are so striking.

Another horror rec, I just finished We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. Really smooth read, started it this morning and just wanted to keep going. Without giving too much of the game away, if you are a TMA fan with a bias towards the Stranger and the Spiral, or if you enjoy a sprinkling of mixed media elements into your horror novels, I would really recommend this.

Hello, I’m wondering if you could please help me find a fic :) it’s a Halloween Sammy fic where y/n is at a frat house and she sneaks off to the attic and her and Sam end up ✨getting entangled✨ but then she wakes up the next day to find out Sam died several years ago in the frat house and that she was ✨entangled✨ with his ghost lol
