(and later sam says that he didn't know this). god i think about that post that says season 1 is sam and dean rediscovering their brotherhood - except dean knows all the details and sam knows barely anything about him. i think about it all the time. how young sam was when he revolted against the family mission and how that meant that he missed out on so much and has so many misconceptions about hunting/Family/dean.
