my current hyperfixation is (and has been for three months) The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. unfortunately i have not read the book and am only familiar with the stage adaptation. since it's already a pretty small fanbase, the play is even smaller, and there are differences between those two pieces of media. we also changed some things in the script. at this point the characters are very close to just being ocs for myself and the other actors 😭.
so when i say the fandom is just me, it's JUST ME (and a few of my friends).
it's like having ocs with no fandom, but worse, because there are a couple fanfics, but it feels like a disgusting otherworldly misinterpretation of the characters. that's not to say that they are, but i've created a canon so twisted in my mind that it's so hard to see it as anything else. please let me out. i need people to talk about The Westing Game with. my best friend thought it was cute at first but now she just makes fun of me when i bring it up. let me out of my enclosure. 💔
anyway now i'm writing a fic for my own enjoyment because there is no media for me to consume so i must make it
Where did you find a full copy of the Westing Game play script? I’m a huge fan of the novel but have never read the play
The unsuspecting residents of Sunset Towers are summoned to the reading of a mysterious will, only to find themselves locked in a thrilling
above is the copy of the script that i'm familiar with, adapted by Darian Lindle. unfortunately, you can't read it for free, but that is the copy that my community theatre used. i enjoyed it a lot!!
fair warning: it changed a few things. as i understand it, Mr. Hoo had a wife in the book that was not present in the script. the same goes for Grace Wexler's husband/Turtle's father. i think there were a few more major differences, but those are the main things that i can think of off the top of my head.
above is an excerpt of the script. it seems like it only goes up to page sixteen, though.
sorry that i couldn't be of any more help 💔💔
It's not what you have that matters- it's what you don't!
