Alistair hits the stone beneath him with hands and knees and nearly his head, but his main thought is that somehow the ground outside the fade always somehow manages to feel so much more real.
He's not sure how but it always has, every time he's returned from beyond the Veil where he definitely isn't meant to be but definitely this time wasn't meant to be leaving.
It makes the ground feel all that much more solid.
He pulls himself to his feet with a heave, but stalls as his hands reach his knees and he waits there while he catches his own breath. Alistair can feel Samahla follow behind him and has no doubt she's looking much less worse for wear. He's almost eye level at this point, but he's more focused on his feet and staying steady than he is on trying to meet her gaze or look more composed than he feels.
"You... You came back for me," he says, nearly delirious, and he finally looks over to the woman he thought he'd been sacrificing for... but who had been apparently sacrificing for him instead. "How?"
Alistair hopes it doesn't sound ungrateful. Truly, it's just as bewildered as he usually feels when someone as powerful as Samahla shows as much care for him as they do.
