Of all the AAVE words and sayings that have been stolen, “unc” is the most grating.
#if I see one little more broccoli haircut ass white teenage boy on the internet call some 20 year old unc I’ll scream#like#it’s a term of respect for one#usually unless you’re fucking with someone#and two it’s usually for men over thirty AT LEAST#I’m pretty sure I heard someone call a 23 year old unc#like words have meaning#don’t use them if you don’t know it#same with ahh#like I haven’t seen anyone type it out before like this year I swear#and when white people say it with the right inflection#I’m just sick of it#in the grand scheme of stealing things and colonization it’s not much but it all adds up obviously#and idk these words particularly dig deep into my core#not for any real reason#I feel like unc is a black male thing mostly in my experiences#but it’s like the language of my people#a comfortability that’s been warped you know#I dunno I dunno#feels like a loss like so many things that get tiktokified and internetified and well#white washed#that’s enough#aave#Ciera complains about life
