good for your soul
How long did your needle felt sculpture take? Its absolutely breathtaking, I am somewhat of a novice needle felter and it really inspired me!!! Did you use a base/core? or is it 1000% wool?
Thank you !!!!!!!
Hi there! It took me about 40 hs, final details took the mayority of that time. Except for the wing, which I made from scratch with dyed wool, I started with a foam base, nothing too perfect, just to give it a rough form from the beginning. On top of that, I used raw fleece as a first layer for volume (it's a type of unwashed wool that's a bit dirty, but very cheap and commonly found in stuffed plushies and such) and then for the colouring and superficial bits, I used dyed wool rovings. For some specific parts, I mixed and brushed wool yarns until I got the right shade of fluff. I repeated this process separately for the arm and attached it later. I don't have many pics of the process, but here is one before I worked on the details!
Thank you for appreciating this piece and asking questions! I'm so happy it inspired you! Hope you found my answer useful for your next creations.
