I went to see Rocketman (the Elton John’s biopic directed by Dexter Fletcher), and I loved it!
I sketched this before watching it -no spoilers-, and it's inspired on what someone from the movie (an actor or the director, can't remember), said on one of the countless times they were asked about the love scene, during the promotional interviews.
That love scene is an important one for the story and is beautifully filmed. But when you watch the movie you realise that much of the fuss created about it comes from the fact that it's a love scene between two guys. If the same scene had depicted a man and a woman, no one would have batted an eyelid. This proves we still hardly get to see gay/same_gender love scenes in movies or anywhere else. So this is my little contribution.
Back to the movie, I loved it because of what it tells and how it's told. They say it's a musical fantasy and I think that's an accurate definition. It's a great story, the music couldn't be better (Elton John and Bernie Taupin's songs), with great performances from absolutely everyone, and the gorgeous and expressive voice of Taron Egerton gifting your ears with his singing. What else can be asked for?
What? A glamorous musical number by Taron Egerton and Richard Madden? Well, you get that too!

@Regranned from @vincentr_brown - This is why coming out is so important. Our visibility matters. It brings normalcy to our community, awareness to important issues like hate crimes, suicide, and the HIV pandemic, it allows for those living in fear to know they are not alone and have a community, others are able to see various and healthy displays of our love, lives, and families, and it brings eduction to ignorance, love to fear, and consequences to hatred.
