Nothing frustrates me more than people who think that same-sex couples having children is unnatural, and that this will consequently result in the children having a lousy and unhappy life. Straight parents does not of necessity equate to happiness and success. In fact, I would almost say that having same-sex parents would result in a happier and more supportive upbringing. Do these people actually know how hard it is to adopt a child? Do they realize how tedious and burdensome the whole process is? Once you add the parents sexual preference into the equation, the whole process of adoption becomes near impossible. Same-sex couples go to extreme lengths to be able to have children. Their children are not the result of one-too-many glasses of wine at Aunty Cath's 30th birthday party. They are not brought into their lives by mistake. They are whole-heatedly planned, often years in advance. If that does not suggest that the children of same-sex couples will be 100% appreciated, loved and cared for, then I don't know what does.
