Samifer prompt - Sammy gets Luci to sing (because he's renowned for his voice or something?) And Sam knows the song (could be a hymn or something) and sings along with him and Sam also an awesome voice and Luci's like O.O and its fluffy and cute.
here are a few covers the song I used, in the case that anyone wants to listen:
Lovesong --Originally by The Cure (x) (x) (x) (x)
"Didn't you once hold a position leading a choir in Heaven?" Sam asked once day, as they are sitting in a motel room. Sam was desperately putting off researching anything, and Dean and Castiel were, unfortunately, nowhere to be seen. Dean had suggested that they stay away from each other only about three weeks before. It had taken around Sam a few days to cave and pray to Lucifer. The archangel had been more than comfortable with coming immediately after being called.
Lucifer was the talkative type. He told stories about Heaven the way he remembered it, and he answered any and every question Sam threw his way. He also stayed quiet when Sam felt standoffish, which was more than Dean ever did. The difference is that Lucifer would gaze at him with curiosity as opposed to pity and worry. Lucifer admitted that studying Sam's soul was how he could read him so well--how he could tell when Sam wanted him to speak and when he wanted quiet. It comforted Sam more than it should have, really, but he didn't ponder on it for too long.
Today was one of the days when Sam couldn't do anything but come up with questions for the archangel.
What color would your wings be in this plane?
White. Pure, clean white.
That had been a surprising yet satisfactory answer.
What was Eden really like?
Beautiful, Sam. Imagine the most fantastic nature preserve or garden you can remember. Now imagine it being immense and calm and perfect. That place, but so peaceful and sweet...
That was hard to picture, but Sam did his best to try and see it in his mind.
"There are some texts that state that you were something of a muse before you were put in the Cage," Sam explained. "I was wondering if that was accurate or not."
"I did have a talent for music," Lucifer explained. "I suppose that that is part of why your species believes I have so much to do with your own talents. Truth be told, I didn't do any of that, though I do appreciate some of the homages I receive from the notion."
The angel laughed quietly. Sam smiled. He had hoped that that was the answer he would get.
"You would grant a request if I prompted you with one, correct?"
"I have told you already that I will do anything you ask me to."
Lucifer blinked. He frowned after a moment.
"What would you like me to sing?"
Lucifer squinted at his true vessel for a moment in contemplation.
"Whenever I'm alone with you," the angel sang in a smooth, quiet voice, "You make me feel like I am home again. Whenever I'm alone with you, You make me feel like I am whole again. Whenever I'm alone with you, You make me feel like I am young again. Whenever I'm alone with you, You make me feel like I am fun again, again..."
Sam felt himself begin to smile. He hadn't heard this song for ages. It was one of those songs that'd come on the radio when John would drive through the mountains and they were only able to pick up oldies and country for miles on end.
"However far away, I will always love you. However long I stay, I will always love you. Whatever words I say, I will always love you. I will always love you..."
The angel trailed off. It was just over halfway through the short, sweet song, and Sam was left wanting more. Lucifer stared at him, a curious look in his eyes. Sam stared back.
"Yes, I think we've been over this part."
"No, you misunderstand me," Lucifer chuckled in response. "I mean to say that if I was once an angel of musical talent, you would likely have some ability in you as well."
Sam shook his head and tore his gaze away from the angel.
"You still do have musical talent," Sam insisted, "but I don't really sing that much."
"Don't lie to me, Sam," Lucifer said with an amused tone. "I can tell when you aren't being fully honest."
"Alright, I just don't sing in front of anyone other than myself." Sam sighed in defeat.
"What if I sang with you?" Lucifer offered. Sam looked at his angel again and contemplated this. There wouldn't be too much wrong with that, would there be? No, if he just sang along...sang under the archangel's own voice, it would be just fine.
"...sure, why the hell not?"
"Whenever I'm alone with you," he sang, "you make me feel like I am free again..."
"Whenever I'm alone with you," Sam chimed in, quietly, "you make me feel like I am clean again, again..."
"However far away, I will always love you. However long I stay, I will always love you. Whatever words I say, I will always love you. I will always love you..."
"I will always love you."
Lucifer dropped out on the last line. He had had his eyes closed for the chorus, a blissful smile on his face the entire time. Sam watched as the angel's eyes opened again and focused on him. He should have felt self-conscious. He should have felt nervous. He should have felt all sorts of things...but he just couldn't bring himself to feel them. Lucifer looked at him with a pleased, adoring expression.
"Sam, your voice is beautiful."
"No," Sam said shaking his head, "it really isn't."
"I think that it is." Lucifer moved to kneel in front of Sam. The angel took the human's jaw in his hand, gently guiding his head so that the two could look each other in the eyes again.
"...you think so?" Sam asked softly. Lucifer gave him a warm smile.
"Yes, Sam. I do think so."
"I guess I'll just have to believe you, then."
