I...I just...WHAT? That makes no sense!! Belle NEVER cried and cowered in front of the Beast, in fact she stood up to him quite a lot! Omg that's so irritating. :/

Belle only showed fear of the Beast twice, and both times were perfectly called for.
The first was when she saw him for the first time and recoiled/gasped in horror because holy shit this was a literal monster right in front of her. And the second was when she was in the West Wing and he was breaking furniture and screaming at her to get out of his room. Again - literal monster, but now he’s pissed off and is roaring and breaking things!
Every other time, she stood up to him, and didn’t take any of his shit. She told him he had to control his temper. In the stage version, when he’s trying to get her to eat with him and she says she’s not hungry, he tells her he’ll just order her to be hungry then, and her response is to laugh mockingly and say he can’t do that.
