i know you said no more but ... I'm home and yeah...me c:
~ exception bcos it is my soulmate ~
Ahhh, Sammie. Right off the bat, it was crazy how we connected so well. Heck, we even unintentionally matched a few times but great minds think alike especially in fashion, am I right. LOL. I know Sammie's always there for me as I am for her. She's such a wonderful girl and I pray that one day she will be able to see what I see in her. She is lovely sunflower and I am her cactus, one of our inside jokes but nonetheless, a sunflower truly captures her essence to be able to shine even through the darkest nights. She has gone through quite a lot and still continues to do so. Her brave soul is always in a battle but I know she will conquer the war and will remain victorious. Sammie is beautiful and amazingly compassionate and I love her to bits.

Growing up on a peach farm in South Carolina with her nasty, harsh, obusive father and the tragedy of the past, Lily Owens has shaped her life around one memory from her childhood--the day her mom, Deborah, was killed. Lily was four at the time and all she remembered he mother and TRay fighting and it ended in a gun shot that killed her mother. She was the one who shot her mother. Lily didn’t want to believe this but she wanted to find out the truth and Rosaleen, Lily’s housekeeper, insulted the three main racist in the town so they left home. When Lily and Rosaleen reached Tiburon they came across a pink house where three African American women lived: August, June, and May. The Black Mary was the statue all the mothers and sisters prayed to, it was in the living room of the Boatwright’s house. Neighbors came from all over to pray to it. Sue Monk Kidd wrote The Secret Life of Bees all in epigraphs to the lives of bees.
How did bees ever become equated with sex? they do not live a riotous sex life themselves. A hive suggests closier more than bordello. Lily first meets Zach and right off the bat she falls in love. Something about him gives her butterflies almost. She thought the difference in the color of their skin would tear them apart, but she soon realized nothing could make her lose the feelings she had for Zach. “At my school they made fun of colored people’s lips and noses. I myself laughed at these jokes, hoping to fit in. Now I wished I could pen a letter to my school to be read...how wrong we’d all been.” Zach tells Lily a lot about himself that he’d give “anything to play like him.” referring to playing the trumphet like Miles Davis, that he has a “’59 Ford Fairlane” and that he likes to play football. They don’t hit it off at first but Lily could feel that they were going to be friends “I thought, we’re going to be friends”. It’s the start to something great.
The whole fabric of honey bee society depends on communication- on an innate ability to send and recieve messages, to encode and decode information. Lily’s mind starts to wonder again, well it never really stopped but it sparked again. Lilly started to ask August questions about her mother. She finds out some answers. But the one thing lily wanted to know was if her mom brought her when she ran away from Tray and if she went back for her. But August told her she got off the bus with only her luggage, which broke Lily’s heart. She thought her mother didn’t care about her just like TRay told her her whole life. Sparks fly again between the two love birds. Zach and Lily plan to go to the movies but there was news about a black man bringing a white lady to the theatre so the police arrested Zach because they thought he was the “one”. Lily felt guilty like it was her fault that he got arrested because she was white, she also felt discriminated against because the men shoved her away and when they took Zach away all because she was white with a white man.
A bee’s life is but short. During spring and summer- the most strenous periods of fraging- a worker bee, as a rule, does not live more than four or five weeks... Treatened by all kinds of dangers during their foraging flights, many workers die before they have reached even that age. May finds out about the arrest of Zach threw a phone call and feels like shes unloved because August, June, Rosaleen and Lily kept it a secret from her. She goes out to the wall, but is gone for a long time. August started to worry so June, Rosaleen, Lily, and herself grabbed their flash lights and headed out to look for her. They searched everywhere the woods, the honey house, the wall but she wasn’t there. Lastly, they came to the river. They all paused for a second in shock, there lied May in the river with a rock holding her to the bottom surface. June and August ran down to the river to get her out and check if she was dead or if she could be brought back but all she did was spit out water, May had no heartbeat. Lily really felt bad after this incident. She felt guiltier then ever like EVERYTHINGwas her fault, if she and Rosaleen hadn’t come Zach wouldn’t have been arrested, and May wouln’t have died.
Lily learns a lot and lets a lot of things go. Zach gets out of jail and comes back to her, they spend a lot of time together. Rosaleen becomes the 5th sister of the Boatwrights. May and April rest in peace in heaven, everyone still grieves over the fact that they lost their two sisters. Neil and June get married. Lily finds out everything about her mother. Deborah ran away from TRay and scouted things out, where they were going to live--The Boatsart house-- and then she came back for Lily the day she was shot. TRay changed from the obusive father he was into a gentlemen who didn’t want to lose his daughter like he lost his Deborah. He was just expressing his anger and sadness on Lily, he loved Deborah so much but he didn’t like how she came back for Lily but not him. He was jealous of Lily so he was mean to her. In the end the bees all live happily ever after in the pink house of peace, love, sisters and community.
