12 Days of Christmas [6 of 12]: Roy Orbison in The Fastest Guitar Alive, 1967.
"Rattling strings like a Gatling gun / Shaped like a lovely woman. Stay right where you are / My guitar is a fast guitar, The fastest guitar alive"
[ The Two Southern Spies ]
I finished it! When it’s video editing (depends on the video), I get it done! You would not believe how little clips I had to work with and somehow I still had some left over. Though I’m glad after a year or so of editing this off and on, to finally have finished this.
Description: After watching The Fastest Guitar Alive, for the first time, I thought Roy Orbison and Sammy Jackson’s characters “Johnny Banner” and “Steve Menlo” were cute together, and before watching the movie, I saw a video with a song that would later remind me of them, and I got inspired to make this!
Johnny and Steve are spies posing as a singer/guitar instructor and a magic elixir salesmen, respectively, during the Civil War. Through their misadventures, (in the case of this video) Steve falls for Johnny. I mean -- What’s not to love, he’s funny, cute, heroic, talented, and he’s got a guitar gun! Unfortunately, he doesn’t think Johnny would feel the same, so he keeps his feelings to himself. Though Johnny does, he’s just too shy to do anything more than work up the courage to sing to Steve.
This still sums up The Fastest Guitar Alive. Like, Sammy’s giving it his all to play his character, at the reins of an Elixir wagon, trying to make it look like it’s 1865 and being chased by “Indians” (white men in red face paint), then there’s Roy. (his acting debut)
This is pretty much how it was through the whole movie.
OfReg seeks tighter laws as fuel prices soar
(CNS): After a meeting last week with Finance Minister Rolston Anglin to discuss global oil prices resulting from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the utilities regulator, OfReg, said there is an “urgent need for more legislative tools” to create more transparency on pricing. On Monday morning, premium fuel at several Esso stations on Grand Cayman was priced at more than CI$6 per gallon,…

When Jackson read that Warner Brothers was going to produce a 1964 ABC television sitcom, No Time for Sergeants, he wrote directly to Jack L. Warner saying that he was the best choice for the role and asked Warner to examine a certain Maverick episode as proof. Ten days later Jackson was told to come to the studio to test for the role. Jackson won the role over several actors including the better known Will Hutchins, a Warner Brothers television contract star who had played Sugarfoot. (Wikipedia)
