My man Paul White announces "Shaker Notes" His fourth album and this time coming on R&S Records due for September (<Shaping up to be a big month for releases with MNDSGN's "Yawn Zen" coming on Stones Throw and Clap! Clap! with "Tayi Bebba" Coming on Black Acre. More on those to follow)

Taking a step away from the beat maker aspect with previous releases featuring the likes of Danny Brown, Jehst, Guilty Simpson and Trim, Paul's self announced "sample free" release is something I'm really looking forward to. It's too early to say whether "Honey Cats" is a glimpse of things to come but non the less it's a great track and kind of reminiscent of some early 60's psychedelic rock with a droning bass line accompanied by marching drums and decorated with vacant yet pronounced vocals, there's even some wailing saxophone near the end that reminds me of a Ralph Bakshi cartoon. He's a very talented musician and his knowledge of music is impressive to say the least. Keep yer eyes on this!
