Kat's ESC Discourse S1 E12: You Let Me Down 20 -- Samra Rahimli, Miracle (Azerbaijan) Originally, both this and Play were in my top three, along with What's The Pressure. Now it's fallen, and fallen hard. In my head, Samra and Nina are two sides of the same coin. Light and dark, silver and gold. They both were sick during Eurovision week and they both qualified nonetheless. However, the reason that Samra is eight places ahead of Nina in my book is this: vocal mishaps aside, I like Miracle better than Lighthouse. They're both styles of music that I enjoy, but I liked Miracle more the first time I heard the song. I thought that Samra's staging and outfit were less of a disaster than Nina's. I thought that Samra handled being sick better than Nina (she was careful not to oversing, and she didn't have a disastrous voice crack that was shown during the recap). I understand why people hated this song after the performance - I mean, she was sick, she couldn't sing. But that doesn't mean I can't love it anyways. 19 -- Jüri Pootsmann, Play (Estonia). Like I said above, this was initially one of my favorites. And as with Samra, the live performance didn't really help it in my book. Jüri looked very nervous most of the time, except for the one smile after the card trick. Also his suit was too big, but that was almost kind of endearing. I thought he could have done a bit more than the card trick, that his staging was boring. I love his voice, though. Beautiful baritone boy. He ought to have qualified from his voice alone. As for the song, it wasn't bad. The lyrics weren't awesome, but the song suited Jüri's voice well and the music part of it was really good in my opinion (I keep wanting to use "quite" but then I remember that quite means something different in Britain and I don't want to confuse them).
Miracle by Samra before and after going through several layers of google translate. The original song can be found here.
Beautiful Samra Rahimli💖
