When she finally gets home, Sylvia drops her bag on the coffee table and drops into the couch, taking a second to breathe. They'll be in any minute, having heard the door and the movement. "Don't shoot, I've been running for my life enough as it is."
Melinda, who'd been coming out of her room with her pen already shifted, looks in shock to Sam, her eyes lighting up at the voice downstairs.
Sam looked up from his desk, where he'd been cleaning his pistol, wand in hand, freezing at the voice.
Sylvia?!
He held up a hand to Melinda, poking his head out the door, pausing for a moment. He knew their home was warded beyond reason, but still, one couldn't be too careful. "Prove it."
