Journal of Samuel Day- Entry 8
I went deeper into the “Toxic Valley”, according to my Pip-Boy, and I’m starting where entry 7 left off: in Grafton.
I found these great large frog-like creatures. The Pip-Boy calls them “Radtoads” but they look very little like the Anaxyrus americanus, or american toad. They look more like frogs in my opinion. They have several eyes and upon fighting them I learned they have eggs on their back and can launch them like grenades. They are disgusting.
I... I always believed it to be a legend, but... this is real. This is a real Grafton Monster. I never believed that Cryptids were true. Then perhaps that means... the mothman from my home aren’t completely fictional.
Another cryptid, seen in two different places at two different times. The Snallygaster. Multiple Snallygasters, as seen in the first photo. I also had the pleasure or misfortune of watching the Snallygasters fight the Grafton Monster. The Monster won, then when I crept closer to investigate, it turned its attention towards me. I narrowly avoided getting hurt.
Almost immediately after escaping the Grafton Monster, I ran into a pack of Super Mutants, and it was only due to quick thinking and fast shooting I survived that encounter. They had these mutated hounds with them. They’re large and very strong. I don’t know what happened to them, as this doesn’t appear to be due to radiation like the other mongrels. I will investigate more.
As I wandered, I was able to spot a doe and her fawn! I took a quick picture then just watched them for a bit. Very serene animals, but also very skittish.
Finally, I found a frog! I won’t bother mentioning a scientific name because the fact it glows Quantum blue and walks on its front legs marks it as no frog that we had before the war. They’re very cute, though, and I hope to find more. Fortunately they’re fairly easy to spot!
After this I’m taking a trip back south. I am merely not prepared for the challenges of the Toxic Valley.
