Stock market sees its best-ever Samvat in 12 years

The NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex surged 40 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively; while the BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices soared 81 per cent and 62 per cent, respectively

The liquidity-driven rally in Samvat 2077 has been the best in 12 years (since Samvat 2065) with the frontline indices – the Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex – surging 40 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively. The rally in the broader markets has been sharper.

While the S&P BSE Smallcap index surged 81 per cent during this period, the S&P BSE Midcap index moved up 62 per cent. Back in Samvat 2065, the frontline indices had zoomed 92 per cent, data show.
