the switch flipping stuff is what mostly turned me off of this game but I’d really like to give the hexen games more of a fair shot. I think it was extra jarring cause I just came off of heretic and I was expecting it to be more of that

yeah that “one-ninth of the puzzle has been sovled” is the absolute dumbest shit. i recommend hexen 2 for a better version of this; it still has that fantasy aesthetic but expands the game in a lot of ways and relies on items instead of switches and imo it feels a lot better and more intuitive to play (usually; the egypt hub still isn’t great)
