I've seen the new trailers (and in Japanese dub) of the Who Made Me A Princess donghua and I'm freaking excited! I hope they give Athy a lot of different outfits cause she wears so many in the manhwa.
I've been reading the novel version of Tapas (it's on hiatus at the moment for some reason though? And they're already in the side stories so I'm not sure what's going on) and I wish the donghua version takes the best parts out of both the novel and the manhwa version. The manhwa version had a bit more solid plot but there were really good stuff in the novel that I wish they kept it (and some parts of the novel that did make it in was shortened).
I hope they animate the side stories as well. The current translated chapters on Tapas is the side story where Athy got transported to the world of the original Lovely Princess novel. It's really funny to see her try to imitate that world's Athy when LP!Athy disappeared cause she kinda sucked at it. She gets pissed off like Claude does and when she's pushed to the limit, she ends up retaliating (which LP!Athy was too timid to do). It's hilarious!
Anyways, here's hoping they add the Lucathy moments from the novel.
I am just dreading to make this since tumblr's post editor updated to being a pain the ass to use lol. I can't just not blog about reading OnS chapters cause it's the only way I can "re-read" them when they become unavailable. Why have the scanlators stopped working on this, I'd never know but I'm sad they don't seem to be around anymore for this manga (I mean I'd still read stuff on mangaplus but if I want to backread at least I'd have a way...).
While Yuu-chan and Mika are having a chat and probably some potential existensial crisis, Rigr seem to be checking out the 1st Progenitor's memories.
Would you look at that? He got there at the exact point in the memory world that Yuu-chan and Mika last watched! How convenient lol.
Rigr now knows about Shika Madu's past.
The reincarnated angels don't remember their past lives but it seems Shika Madu is okay with them living unaware of it. After all, tragic backstories and all.
Rigr now knowing the truth, it seems he now cares about the 1st Progenitor. Shika Madu might be an asshole but he still cares about his angel subjects even after all this time. He knows it would be difficult and he might not be able to succeed but he's not going to give up hope.
It makes me wonder more what his plan is in the present since he seems to be fucking over those he says he cares about.
Anyways, Rigr ends up crying even if he doesn't have his past life memories which made him wonder if those memories still lie within him somewhere.
I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what to call him now that it's revealed he's the real Mika. Anyways, he was finally noticed by Shika Madu which is bad cause he has a plan.
Angel Mika is alive now and he needs to make his father think he's still dead so he asks homonculus!Yuu to take his place. He'd even forget his real identity to make things more convincing.
"No matter how many eons it takes... no matter how many generations we go through... in the end, we'll save everybody!" declared human Yuu whose actually the real angel Mika (this is gonna be confusing lol. I'm calling him Past!Yuu). It didn't matter how long it took and what the circumstances have become, Yuu-chan has always wanted to save everyone no matter when and it's always been his goal.
(I wish I could take the screenshot of when he said this but it's hard to crop with the length)
Homonculus!Yuu seems hesitant at first but he happily agreed with Past!Yuu's plan and he's now the new Mika.
New!Mika (yes, I'm not calling him that) is given his first task for his newest role. I'm guessing the "seven lights" are the black keys? Maybe? Anyways, he basically made it so that his father would do a bunch of detours before getting to his goal lol.
Past!Yuu erased (although more like locked away) his memories of being Angel Mika. He promises New!Mika that no matter what, he'd come back and collect him and New!Mika happily promises back.
Beams of light shoot out from New!Mika and Shika Madu catches one of them. On his hand he finds one of the black keys (I was right earlier! lol). He thinks homonculus!Yuu might've done something but basically thinks "Nah, I made him and he can't think for himself." so he turns his attention to Past!Yuu.
Past!Yuu acts like he knows nothing (either he's acting or the memory lock worked too well) and Shika Madu doesn't buy it and checks his memories which kills Past!Yuu in the process. Shika Madu confirms that Past!Yuu totally knows noting (lol if only you knew).
Shika Madu laments the fragility of the humans he created as he estimated that they might not even live to be a hundred.
Shika Madu doesn't realize that close by, Past!Yuu aka the real Angel Mika had been reborn again.
Aww!! A proper reunion between Mika and Yuu! Yuu-chan had fullfilled his promise! They still don't actually have their past life memories but they're okay with it as they think it'd have been bad if they actually did all this time. After all, it took this long to get this far in their plans and they went through so much that if they remembered everything, it'd have made them suffer more and give up.
They're reminded of the vampires who hated being immortal cause it caused them suffering.
These two are now having a discussion on the meaning of (their) life. They wonder why they should keep going and why Yuu-chan should make Mika human again. Mika answers that he wants to live and die with Yuu-chan (aww... that's so sweet!). Yuu-chan asks if that'd really make Mika happy and Mika says he thinks so.
Mika is slowly but surely turning into a full demon and Yuu-chan says he won't let it happen. Yuu-chan concludes that they don't clearly remember their past lives and they'd continue living this life and would try to reach their present lives goal: save everyone (especially the dead Hyakuya orphans and Guren and their friends) and turn Mika back to human.
Hope restored! Yuu-chan likens their current situation to a video game and thinks that they have a chance now that they know the lore. Mika agrees!
Their current goal? Get the seven keys!
Oh!! Flashback to eight years ago!
Ferid is wondering why the First Progenitor wants to make a "Mikaela" and what even is a "Mikaela" in the first place. He says he wasn't compatible to become this Mikaela and the First Progenitor himself cannot be whatever it was.
He also got his hands on little Yuu-chan and Mika (they were drugged and were sound asleep) to check their memories. Someone else is there with Ferid however...
Ferid asked Guren if Guren had checked the kids' memories and he hasn't yet.
Oh... what does this mean?!
--
That last panel though. Guren looked weird lol. Had their chins always been this round/big? I mean I knew the illustrator's artstyle had changed over the years as this manga had been running for a long time now but this is the first time I really notice. I don't like it lol. Makes them look weird and old. I might not like Guren that much but I have to admit he's handsome and this? Not at all lol.
Okay! We got the lore!! I'm happy and excited and this feels like the most hilarious development I've seen in this story in a while. Angel Mika is smart and immediately have some kind of starting plan for his goal. Sadly, it seems turning himself into Yuu-chan also lowered his braincells lol jk. It seems no one else in this metaphorical chess game realized that someone they wanted to take as pawn is also playing the game.
Guren and Shika Madu totally fucked up their plans all because they were targetting the wrong kid! Especially Guren who had been with Yuu-chan longer in this current life cause his actions in the last couple of chapters made Yuu-chan reject helping him. I think if Yuu-chan had gotten back his memories of being Angel Mika and if Guren knew about this fact, Guren probably would've had a better chance of convincing Yuu-chan to sacrifice himself since Yuu-chan's goal in life (both the past and present) was to save everyone including Mika.
Oh, ther irony! XD
This isn't a perfect story, I admit. I don't think this turn of events had been hinted before (if it had been, then it's my fault I missed all the clues) but I don't care. I'm still having a lot of fun reading.
Mika telling Yuu-chan once again that he'd just want them to live together until the end made me sooo happy! Ah, it's times like these I'm happy to be a MikaYuu fan haha. I remember that in the PSP game, they did mention this also with Mika and Yuu wanting to live and raise kids together. (>///<)
I'm curious now about what Shika Madu is actually feeling about all this in the present. He did care a lot about everyone back then but now it doesn't seem to be the case and he's willing to sacrifice the other vampires just to get his son back. But then again knowing that he could just have them reincarnated, maybe he's okay with sacrificing the current them cause he can just make new bodies for the vampires.
Also wondering why Shika Madu kept remaking the Yuu from Ancient Greece. Did he realize there's something special about this new human? Did he realize that in a way, this was the human form of the homonculus eyeball (actually Angel Mika)? Or did he just think of making a human version of homonculus Yuu cause it'd be easier to experiment on something like him which he could just remake? I wonder if it's the reason why Yuu from Ancient Greece didn't have emotions while the new humans created in the past had personalities or seemingly could have one even before getting possessed by angels?
Also, Shika Madu's tragic backstory is enough to make Rigr sympathize or at least care about him though. I wonder how this would affect things as Rigr hated the First Progenitor and was willing to oppose him. How about now?
That ending there though. What did Ferid mean by "Have you looked into their memories?" when talking to Guren? Vampires have now been revealed to be able to read memories - Rigr and Shika Madu did so earlier and Ferid says he would at the end although I think I should've seen this coming since vampires turn into demons and demons have that ability. Does the question mean Guren also have that power? How?? Or is it Mahiru-no-Yo's power their talking about since she's now Guren's demon? Hmmm..... but then again, didn't they mention a connection between the Ichinose clan and Rigr?
Oh my god, so many questions! XD
I'm so glad I didn't end up taking too many photos cause tumblr had a photo limit for posts and I didn't hit that. Excited for the next chapter! Hope it's as fun as this one.
If I don't get to post anything in the next few days, here's a Happy Holidays to you! I hope you have fun and thanks for reading. :)
Okay, not gonna lie, I was too lazy and then stuff happened and I ended up having to read this chapter in another site cause I was too late to read it in mangaplus. (;-;)
Yuu-chan and Mika are hunting bears to eat. I don't know how to feel about this at all since it feels weird to think about people eating bears but I'm just gonna ignore it.
They took down 3 bears, by the way.
While the two are getting ready to cook, they reminisce on the past on the last day Mika was human. Specifically, the day of their failed escape from Sanguinem. Mika wasn't at dinner time with them, if you guys remember, as he was at Ferid's gathering items and so they ate without him.
Yuu-chan tells him the kids wished that Mika was there to enjoy the food with them and Mika teases him that of course the others wouldn't enjoy it as much without the main character lol.
Mika is surprisingly being optimistic now, as Yuu-chan have noticed. He says once they bring the kids back to life and he's back to being human they can all eat curry together again.
Yuu-chan asks for help in butchering the meat and Mika declines as he has some strategizing to do haha.
The two talk over dinner about what they know. Their plan is to get all the sinful keys and bring back to life angel Mikaela. Guren and Ferid have the same plans but instead, Guren just wants to just bring everyone else back except Mikaela.
lol I needed to save this screenshot here. They're wondering what Ferid's plan is and Yuu-chan says nobody knows what goes on in Ferid's head and it might be something really weird. XD
They also discuss the reality of the situation that the Mikaela that Guren wants to keep dead is actually Yuu-chan cause he and homonculus Yuu just switched places before. It means if Guren wins, Yuu-chan might have to die.
With those information in mind, things have changed. Mika is no lon ger hesitant about what he should do and no longer thinking of sacrificing himself since the one the others need to sacrifice is actually Yuu-chan. Mika says he doesn't really care about anything else except protecting Yuu-chan so it's all good.
Mika has become the happy, not-giving-up guy now between the two of them and the one who has to reassure Yuu-chan that he'd be protecting him. Previously, this was Yuu-chan's attitude in convincing Mika back when they didn't know the truth. Mika is acting more like himself when he was a kid.
Mika was surprised Yuu-chan didn't offer to sacrifice himself and Yuu-chan replies that he's still confused about which of them is which. They also noticed that angel Mikaela was smart back then but Yuu-chan is-
Yuu-chan cuts of Mika and says he's smarter now. Mika sacrcastically agreed lol. Come on, we all know he lost braincells when he locked away his memories as angel Mikaela but to be fair, he was in a hurry at the time and probably didn't have enough time to keep some important stuff.
The confusion keeps going and so are these two's identity crisis. Who is who and which one dies when they finally get their goal? Is Yuu-chan gonna keep being himself once he's back to being angel Mikaela? Yuu-chan doesn't mind but Mika doesn't want to lose his Yuu-chan. And Yuu-chan wouldn't want Mika to disappear either if it's the other way around.
The First Progenitor's goal is to bring all of the angels back. Guren's goal is to bring all of humanity back. Angel Mikaela's goal was to save the First Progenitor which means they have to help the guy with his goal as well. And it would all end with someone getting punished by God.
Yuu-chan's new goal: not let that happen. Yes, like an rpg protagonist, he'd be opposing God now.
Of course, Mika has to get the reassurance that Yuu-chan is counting himself in the people he's planning to save. Yuu-chan says he's not going to sacrifice himself and he knows Mika could find a way to make things work out.
It'd be very hypocritical of Yuu-chan if he decides to die for everyone's sake when several chapter ago, he's the one trying to convince Mika to not do that exact thing.
Anyways, the two of them make a promise to each other that no matter what happens, neither of them would sacrifice themselves for everyone else. At least, Yuu-chan is making it sound like that. He's letting Mika do all the talking and when it comes to his part in making the promise, he changes subjects and Mika doesn't notice...
Yuu-chan asks if Mika could come up with a plan since all of their enemies are pretty smart: there's Guren, Mahiru, Shika Madu, Saito and Ferid (I'm surprised they knew exactly which other people are leading their own little operation). Mika says it's fine since they have someone smart on their side, too! And Yuu-chan says that would be him lol.
Since angel Mika gave his memories to homonculus Yuu to keep up the ruse, he probably also gave away his braincells. Yuu-chan should just accept that Mika has them now lol.
They know that right now, they're the only two who knows of the switch. They need to sacrifice angel Mikaela and none of them knows that Yuu-chan is the real one. Mika and Yuu-chan have to use this to their advantage.
What would the first part of their plan be, you ask? Going to the Demon Army HQ to talk to Saito, it seems.
______
Holy shit what the fuck is happening in the end there? Are they collaborating? Yuu-chan and Mika's goal have a bit more in common with Saito's and the Progenitor team so this kinda makes sense? They plan to save humanity, kill all vampires (the progenitors just want to die right now after all), and not let Shika Madu do exactly as he pleases.
I am excited to see where this would be going. Mika and Yuu-chan don't plan on letting anyone know the truth after all.
Aaaah!! Mika's acting like his happy and mischevious kid self again. His depression seem to have left since he found out that he's not the real angel Mikaela and therefore not the reason all of this shit is happening. Yuu-chan on the other hand doesn't smile as much anymore. Kind of sad this is how things are going as I want both of them to be happy. I'm glad they still have their silly moments and stupid banter though. They're so cute!
Knowing the switch doesn't confuse me but these two and their discussion made things seem so complicated. I'm now feeling half as confused as I was when I watched Patema Inverted and couldn't tell which is up and down anymore hahaha.
Yuu-chan's goal was to bring back everyone who died and then he adds bringing Mika back to life as a human, and then saving everyone, and now he's fighting God. It's escalating! It sounds so ridiculous but this is how it be. Yuu-chan is not Yuu-chan if he doesn't aim for a miracle.
Angel Mika's switch with Homonculus Yuu makes Yuu-chan and Mika's personalities feel trippy. The happy and smart angel Mika locked his memories away and sort of gave a copy of them to homonculus Yuu so they could properly act out their new roles. Purposely reincarnated to who they are now, Mika as a child was happy and smart and you really would think he's the real angel. The failed escape happens and Mika as a vampire is just quietly observing things and just wants to be with Yuu - just like how his past self as a homunculus was. Now that the truth is known, he's back to having the persoanlity of hius younger self which is a sort of copy of the real angel Mika's personality.
Putting all that in text made me understand why those two are confused.
Excited for the next chapter! I'm so glad there's another site I could read these on and they have the chapters I could backread as well! I'm still gonna read the new chapters in mangaplus to support the original creators and official release but at least I don't have to worry about missing anything just in case something happens and I miss a month.
A shot from space. Does this mean it’s lore time? It’s lore time!
This will be long as there’s a lot of photos and a theory at the end.
(lol I forgot I had this in my drafts for weeks now)
Earth is a kingdom and Sika Madu was it’s king apparently? Here he is, addressing his subjects.
We finally get some explanation: there are many different kingdoms and Earth is one of them. The angels living in each kingdom are creating some kind of tower which has to be tall and the citizens also have to collect enough Photons (their power source). The end goal is reaching the Sun where God is. It’s Paradise.
New characters! A couple of angels who looks more humanoid than most just like Sika Madu and angel!Mika.
These names might be familiar to many as they’re the names of Demons and have been referenced in other series. I had to google this by the way as I knew they were a reference to something (I’ve watched Mairimashita! Iruma-kun and saw some of the same names there) but never looked up what until now haha.
One of them, Amon, tells Sika Madu that they would follow the latter no matter what.
Mika and Yuu also think they’re familiar! They look just like some people they know from the present time but with different names. They also wonder if Sika Madu and the others are literally going to the Sun itself.
Away from the others, a conversation begins: what to do with the experiment Mikaela. Angels aren’t allowed to create life so they must get rid of the evidence that shows they did just that.
Paimon protests as he knew Sika Madu has gotten attached to Mikaela and this meant punishment. He and the others think highly of the king and wouldn’t want him gone. Sika Madu’s reply is that both Paimon and Bael could take his place if he were to be gone.
Paimon says he’d rather die first than let that happen.
Paimon is already infected by the sickness that had plagued the angels though and what he says just might happen. He then asked if the Mikaela Experiment is to find a cure for this plague.
Sika Madu says that it’s something that must be done as many angels might die even if they reach paradise. Whatever his plan may be is also forbidden. Paimon pleads for his King to not do this as they’re not important enough for Sika Madu to try and cure. He then asks again to be allowed to dispose of Mikaela.
Sika Madu asks for five days so he could say his goodbye to Mikaela and he would dispose of the boy himself. Paimon expresses his trust in Sika Madu’s words as the latter has never lied to them before and says he and the others would await the command to go to paradise.
Back outside Paimon tells the others of what happened as he knew Sika Madu was lying and that they’d have to kill Mikaela themselves. He doesn’t care if he doesn’t get cured so long as his king is alright.
Bael is on Sika Madu’s side though as he wouldn’t want Paimon to die of sickness. He says he’d rather die than go to Paradise without Paimon. He also tells Paimon that leaving the sick means to leave half their population which isn’t good either.
The two argue and decide they’d do what they believe they must but Bael also tells Paimon that the latter should have had more belief in ther King.
Mika and Yuu are watching, able to sympathize with the angels’ predicament as they’re going through that, too. Mika wonders if it’s the right thing to do as even they don’t know if they’d succeed and Yuu tells him they’re just gonna go for it and worry about complicated stuff later.
Mika then wonders how things went for the angels. (also the boys are calling the angels by the names of people the angels resemble in the present time).
Paimon just really don’t want Sika Madu to suffer for his decisions and Mika could sympathize as he wouldn’t want Yuu to go through the same thing.
Yuu finally noticed something we in the fandom probably have right now reading this: history is repeating itself. They just involve other people this time around.
Yuu is annoyed as this repetitiveness feels like they’re in Hell. Mika points out that Heaven is above where the tower is reaching after all.
Yuu says heaven to him is where all of his loved ones are and if their world is hell itself then the First Progenitor had been stuck in hell for ages then.
Meanwhile, the First Progenitor is spending time with his son. He says that angel!Mika would be okay but for now, they’re gonna have to go somewhere far away so angel!Mika has to be a good boy and conserve energy.
Angel!Mika is excited for their little outing and invites homonculus!Yuu with them. Unfortunately, Paimon arrives to do what he must.
---
Holy crap! Lore time!! I can’t believe they dropped so much info this month! Although this is a long time coming and we’ve been waiting for it so I guess it’s just right.
First of all, they’re talking about killing Mika. It doesn’t matter if it’s the angel! Mika, they’re still talking about probably killing Mika. Why do these things always happen on chapters that fall on Mika’s birthday month?
In May 2020, vampire!Mika dies and becomes a demon, May 2022 Mika finds out he has to die to resurrect humanity, and now May 2023 we find out angel!Mika had to die to protect Sika Madu. Does the author have something against Mika or something???
Anyways, Sika Madu was the king of angels on Earth way back and their goal is to get to the Sun. There are apparently other satellite kingdoms whose goal is the same as theirs. Why are all these angels on the planets in the first place? Is this some kind of battle royale where one group needs to get to Paradise faster than the others or something?
The king has a bunch fo loyal subordiantes and they all look very familiar. I love how Mika and Yuu just decided to call them by the names of people they look like in the present. Let’s see...
I’m not sure about four of them but they could either be a progenitor or a demon we know. The artstyle of this manga is kind of samey with some faces (and some are at a different angle in this chapter) and I don’t know their haircolors so it’s difficut to tell. Although if we’re going by significant characters, Marbas could be Crowley, Bathin is Ferid, Naberius is Noya, and Raum might be Byakkomaru but I’ve never seen the guy without a hood so I really can’t be sure of this one.
I have a theory about this one but I’ll leave that for later.
It seems the angels from millions of years ago went through their own pandemic. Sika Madu says he created Mika for this reason (exactly for what, he didn’t say) so he isn’t agreeing on killing the kid. Paimon wants Mika dead cause he knows the king would be in trouble once it’s known he created a life. Unfortunately, Sika Madu seem to have gotten attached so Paimon wants to do the deed himself.
Here’s where an argument starts: Paimon wants to kill Mika for the king’s sake and doesn’t care if he or anyone dies of the sickness (a weird sort of reversal of the present where Saito wants to stop Sika Madu out of hate). Bael wants to believe in ther king and wouldn’t want anyone to be left behind.
Mika and Yuu discuss the happenings in front of them as in a way, they could relate: do what’s right and accept that there’d be sacrifices or keep going and save everyone no matter the difficulty. Yuu found it frustrating that things back in the past are the same as the present and it’s awful that it seems to be happening again.
Sika Madu seems to be attempting to escape but Paimon decides to make a move earlier than expected. I don’t know why homonculus!Yuu reacted that way after angel!Mika invited him to come with them. Why was he conflicted, I wonder?
Okay, theory time!
There’s a sickness going on that’s killing angels and the First Progenitor seem to be close with several of his subordinates and these people happen to look like vampires/demons in the present timeline. Angel Mika was artificially created to find a cure but the First Progenitor grew to care about him as a family.
Some of the current vampires are said to be a “Mikaela”, right? I think it’s maybe cause they were created the same way the original Mika was created.
They all probably died and Sika Madu tried to revive them by artificially recreating them. This would be cause he cared about them and also as a sort of experiment to bring Mika back to life. These experiments probably failed as they didn’t come back correctly. He probably tried recreating them from scratch later on via human birth and then just collecting all of them again to turn them into vampires. Sadly, they seem to be failures again and so he took the ones closest to what he wanted with him and had them turned into demons.
What has happened to the current Mika up until now? He was born human, then turned into a vampire, then now a demon where he no longer has a physical body... and angels aren’t humans. Sika Madu could revive Mika not as a human with the ritual. The other demons were tests to see what would happen if he turned Mika into a demon.
The rest of the vampires took a lot of energy to make, maybe. They were failures and Sika Madu only wants his kid now so he’s gonna sacrifice the rest. Yuu the homonculus is the final puzzle piece needed to recreate the real Mika as he has memories/data about angel!Mika that Sika Madu doesn’t have.
This is what I think, at least.
Woah! This was a long post! Been a while since I made something like this. Next month would be part of lore time again so I might make another depending on what they’d reveal. I’m excited!
I remember seeing these on facebook years ago when the series was still airing (the screenshots were shared on a fangroup I’m in). I couldn’t believe Funi really did this lol.
I was sad when I couldn’t find them anymore (plus I can’t access Funi’s site where I live) but it turns out I had actually saved them years ago on an old laptop.
My mouse needing replacement I still haven't gotten (I still don't have the money for it at the moment) makes taking screenshots difficult and then tumblr making an annoying "twitter-fied" update made me lose motivation to read this chapter cause I like blogging what I read especially this series. I love this series too much to not yell it out in the void that is tumblr lol.
I used some extensions recommended by other users so that the tumblr layout would be the same as before so I'm sort of okay but I'm still sad the post boxes are a bit thinner than they used to be. I'm struggling a bit with the mouse but it's fine. So yeah, this is late lol
The aftermath of last chapter's tragic events.
Bael comes into the room and sees Paimon dead and angel Mikaela's corpse being cradled by the king. Bael wonders if Paimon killed himself because if he did, that is considered a sin by God which meant Paimon's soul probably would get punished (not sure if it's going to hell or anything cause Shika Madu cut him off before he could finish the sentence).
Bael tried to be supportive and tells Shika Madu this event is just another trial and things could still go well but Shika Madu is having none of it.
Shika Madu just feels tired, helpless, and terrible and he doesn't want to accept the current situation. Their goal has always been to go back to Paradise where God is but Shika Madu is now questioning that goal as the road to it is filled with nothing but pain.
And he just had to find out at that moment that even Bael is sick. bael apologizes cause he knows he won't be around for long enough to help his king.
Bael still tries to be encouraging and tells his king to keep moving forward to Paradise, even if he'd end up going alone. Shika Madu is frustrated at the unfairness of it all.
And Bael tells him he'd be staying behind with Paimon. He also explains that unlike Paimon, he had no expectations. He's not doing all this because he wants the King to fulfil some kind of goal nor did he want to go to Pradise and see God. When Shika Madu asked what Bael wanted, Bael looks at the dead Paimon and answers that whatever it was, he'd no longer be able to get it now. So now all Bael could do is whatever would be asked of him and if Shika Madu wants to start a resistance, he'd be of help if told to.
Bael then takes Paimon's corpse with him and leaves Shika Madu with angel Mikaela's corpse. Now alone (well, technically he can't see Yuu-chan and Mika there), he is left to conteplate on what he should do next and all he knows is that he's at a loss.
Next we see of Shika Madu, he's at a graveyard. Bael had also killed himself so he would be with Paimon in death. Even their graves are shown to be right next to one another's which is pretty sweet considering how close they were.
Their long time goal has finally been met but Shika Madu wonders what the point is now that they've lost so many people in the way. After asking that question, Amon looks to his side and we are shown Belial's grave.
Astaroth answers that there's a reason: to be the first to get to Paradise for the sake of everyone that have passed away. Shika Madu agrees and tells everyone to get ready and tell the others that they'd finally leave the next day.
Shika Madu researches and we get a bit of explanation: the light they've been collecting all this time is power that God had created and it's what they needed to return home. It could also make miracles happen but the angels can't use it this way and if they did anything taboo, they get punished and the worst sins all involve life and death.
But he found some kind of loophole via doing experiments - one of which is how angel Mikaela was created.
He places angel Mikaela in a coffin and asks God if this was his punishment.
God gave him no answer so he just thought of one on his own: commit more taboos using the light they were able to collect. He'd first resurrect angel Mikaela then everyone else as he refused to leave anyone behind.
Homonculus Yuu is okay! And he's got his orders to convert all the light they collected within Babel into darkness. As homonculus Yuu does his job, Shika Madu waits for anything at all to happen whether he be punished or something stops them but nothing does.
And then they appear. It also seems they might have destroyed homonculus Yuu.

Okay... I guess we're finally getting to the scene where Shika Madu gets punished and the appearance of the seraphs. I feel bad for him cause yeah, what happened isn't fair. He and the rest have succeeded in getting the power they needed for their goal but they lost so many important people along the way.
Um... can't really tell me not to ship Bael/Paimon after this chapter lol. I wonder what it was that Bael wanted had Paimon not died? Bael is pretty contradictory in a way, I think as he's telling Shika Madu he'd support whatever the latter wants to do while trying to convince him to go through with going to paradise as it was what they (especially Paimon) would've wanted) but then dying after. Bael's death though helped in making Shika Madu find his own choice more acceptable though as Bael's death just added to the pile of people Shika Madu lost.
Shika Madu has proven he cares about his comrades and the rest of his subjects as he's willing to push the limit of what he's allowed to do but he doesn't seem to feel the same way about their current incarnations. My guess back then and even now is that they probably aren't completely the same as what they're used to be and so he doesn't consider them the same person. It's the same with his son Mikaela. If just reviving Mikaela was the goal then he'd have already succeeded as Mika is alive (well, he's currently a demon but still). But he still wants to revive the real angel Mikaela - the one with the memories and the person he spent his time with as family. It's not perfect unless they're the exact same people he's lost.
One of the themes of this entire series from the start is "family". Yuu had to learn and accept he had one in the Hyakuya orphans after his traumatic experience with his real parents and later he had to learn to accept the rest of the Shinoa squad as his new family after he lost the other orphans. Guren also lost his friends who were as important as family to him. Ashera wanted to get reunited with his sister and later, said sister wants to see him again when they got separated. Now they reveal Shika Madu losing what's basically his entire family is what started all this.
This manga felt like a roller coaster and so many things happened and not gonna lie, I'm still not sure the author knows exactly where all this is going but he seems adamant that this story will be about family. I think that's amazing lol.
I have already started reading the chapter after this one but I'd make a post maybe tomorrow hehe. I wish I could do a 2-in-1 but these chapters needed a bunch of screenshots taken. So much lore...
