something zoro had offhandedly noticed in regards to his captain’s notable relatives are first, their names. he isn’t one to place a concern about the news despite so often looking over it when he has the time, but somehow, the names of luffy’s family tend to creep familiarity to him and if not to him, at least to the rest of the crew who has basic knowledge of famed individuals. it isn’t something he ponders about too much, almost none at all actually, but the rare thought comes along when he catches peculiar parts in sight; for example, the swinging of a metal pipe lit in flames as the newly introduced older brother gets used to his ability. zoro’s eyes followed each grassful of a swing with light interest. after all, it wasn’t the strangest thing in the world, but he felt it was a distinct trait of sabo worth keeping at the back of his head.
‘ where did you learn to fight like that ? ’ finally choosing to raise his voice, he inquires so to sedate this slight curiosity of his. ‘ i’ve never seen someone use a metal pipe as a weapon besides kids. ’
So, about that 'alliance' with my little brother. :\
✚✚✚ sabo — @sanbosocho
Yes, what about it? This was not the candid query of a worried brother going straight to his point of interest; it was a vague half-interrogation piqued by a man’s unavoidable curiosity to meddle in other people’s business, regardless of what he might argue in defence of his noble values. If this interest stemmed from familial worrying, fact remained Sabo was probing all the same in foreign matters, poking at the air.
A smart technique, Law knew. By instigating a reply rather than prompting it through more direct means, everything gotten in response could be seen as a bonus, thus given of the answerer’s own accord. A clean confession. This was a skill a man of his cunning was especially acquainted with, for it figured in his bastard’s manual to survival, chapter one. Verbal manoeuvres were more often than not of greater effectiveness than practical ones.
Learn the lesson, play smart too and make no mistake — the Captain was no fool. He did not owe Sabo any truths or lies. He would not confide his plans to someone completely apart of them, and God knew Law revealed only so much of his mind to those who were, indeed, involved in his schemes as it was. An attitude as secretive as it was bothersome in the opinion of his pawns. Excuse his manners — his jolly friends. Anyone could see their frustration was justified. No wonder Law should be painted as a shady fellow with a nefarious reputation preceding him wherever he roamed.
He sounded more hostile than intended when he spoke, a sorry habit formed throughout wretched years of existence. Hoarse, too, as though his voice had not been employed in ages. Law did not truly feel aggressive at this point, it was just something that kept on happening, alas. Insults and curses would flow out of his mouth with no apparent control over them.
❝ That is not a question. ❞ Nor was this. ❝ Don’t beat about the bush. What do you care about my alliance with Straw Hat? ❞ Being a sibling was neither excuse nor entitlement to knowledge.

‘ OI, LUFFY ! don’t think i forgot about all those times you smashed my head into the mast with you ! ’ a loud boom comes from the swordsman and an accusing point of the bottle of liquor in hand towards the rubber boy, voice free of any malice and intermingling with the rest of the noises of the feast. once acknowledged, his captain laughs boisterously at the claim, clapping loudly before finding more food to stuff down his throat, a simple response coming out of a meat-filled mouth, but nonetheless, giving zoro an assurance that he did indeed remember those times well.
at the answer, zoro leans back, a small smile perks with the festive scene til he hears a murmur of a question asked by the older sibling himself, directed at another individual, but with the already joyous atmosphere and alcohol to loosen him up, he slides to sabo’s side and throws an arm over his shoulder ever so casually. ‘ he’s done that since i first boarded a boat with him. he launched himself into a bird once and got stuck in its mouth ! ’ a dramatic exasperated sigh draws, lacking of any true stress from the recalling the memory ( though during the time, it was definitely a surprise. ) it seemed the revolutionary member caught on to the amusement in his voice as an arm was felt on his shoulder as well before he begins to hear a short excerpt of the captain’s recklessness as a child.
There's no reason for it, no direct correlation between prior events nor indication that he would suddenly chuck an entire rhinoceros at the apparent current source of his ire, but here we are - He probably just recalled that he's still upset with the Heavenly Yaksha about... everything, and this just seemed like an apt way to get attention.
➸ @sanbosocho
Well, this definitely was a dilemma. Not whether he would make it out or not, but rather, should he slice up the poor animal or just dodge and let it crash? That would almost certainly break the poor creature’s bones. Why this blond had suddenly decided to throw the rhino at him only fate knew, but it was too extra even to his tastes.
Eventually, he formed a net of strings to catch it before stepping aside.
“If you treat animals like this, I don’t even want to imagine how you treat your loved ones.”
