"i understand him feeling threatened by what me and eddie have" is Such a crazy thing to say and i think it gets lost a little on account of the craziness of the rest of what buck says in that conversation. but it's a fucking insane thing to say. because it shows that on some very real level buck knows that his and eddie's relationship is Not Entirely Normal. to the extent that he understands his (ex)boyfriend feeling threatened by it. and not just that but he specifically says BY WHAT ME AND EDDIE HAVE. and it's like. buck. what do you and eddie have? that's the question he really needs to reckon with. he's aware they have Something. something entirely different to any other relationship in his life. but he won’t look at what that something is. he won't put words to what he and eddie have. it's i understand him feeling threatened. but not i understand WHY he feels threatened. because to answer the why would mean that what he and eddie have becomes less an ambiguous Something that he doesn't have to look too closely at.
