SANDERSTOBER 2025 is here! I am creating an art prompt to tackle each day (but you can tackle any day you want)! Feel free to take any on, share with #Sanderstober2025 if you prefer, just have fun!
October 1st: In classic fashion to start off the month of art prompts, I love a “September 30 vs. October 1st” idea. This year, take your name or any name you’d like, spell it out, and decorate the lettering so that the beginning of the name is normal, but gets increasingly more and more Halloween-y by the end.
October 2nd: Much like Percy Jackson’s sword being disguised as a pen, what object do you always have on you that could be your weapon in disguise? What would that weapon look like?
October 3rd: Based off the game, Date Everything, pick a unique object in your house and personify it, given them a name and personality!
October 4th: Two or more people you ship actually helping to pilot some kind of ship…
October 5th: Create a self-portrait of yourself in the style of Over the Garden Wall (Thank you to my friend, Calypso, for this suggestion!)
October 6th: Take any famous fast food/casual fine dining restaurant (Wendy’s, Chili’s, Cracker Barrel, etc.) and create a monster based off that restaurant’s logo/ color scheme.
October 7th: The return of an oldie but a favorite of mine: take any character from any piece of content you would like and depict them in classic Tim Burton-style illustration
October 8th: Take any fairy tale re-imagine it as a science fiction… (Thank you to my friend, Aleks, for this suggestion!)
October 9th: Gotta have a prompt In celebration of Hades 2 being released! We know about the major gods that are patrons of some big sweeping concepts (Ares is the god of war, Poseidon is the god of the sea, etc.). Create a god of a very niche thing…
October 10th: Create a postcard for a fictional city you wish existed. (Thank you to my friend, Tammy, for this suggestion!)
October 11th: Take your astrology sign and depict them participating in a fall/halloween event you enjoy doing every year. We, the viewers, will see just how akin to your sign you are, based off the activity! For me, the bull would be eating tons of candy… which is what I enjoy doing and just happens to also be a very Taurus thing to do lol.
October 12th: Take any famous killer/monster from a scary movie and imagine them taking the place of a character from literally any other work of fiction, scary or otherwise! (Thank you to my friend, Dominic, for inspiring this idea!)
October 13th: Take your favorite fall treat and do the classic art challenge: draw it in a minute, draw it in five minutes, and then draw it one last time in fifteen minutes! Honestly, you can also set your own three time constraints, I just love this particular comparison challenge.
October 14th: Create a cryptid… Using a d6… or d20 die to help determine how many eyes, arms, legs, and heads this creature will have… (Thank you to my friend, Andrea, for inspiring this!)
October 15th: Create a poster for a horror movie that would be a horror… for you… (Thank you to my friend, Stephanie for this suggestion!)
October 16th: Since a lot of shows have been making me want my own coven… depict a coven of witches having an ideal night out… (Thank you to Calypso for this idea!)
October 16th: Since a lot of shows have been making me want my own coven… depict a coven of witches having an ideal night out… (Thank you to Calypso for this idea!)
October 17th: Create a fantasy landmark, using inspiration by combining TWO world landmarks that will be decided by spinning the wheel on this website: https://wordwall.net/resource/797423/landmarks (If you’re unable to click the link, simply Google search “Landmarks Spin the Wheel”)
October 18th: Draw one of your favorite casts/gang of characters from a work of fiction as how they might be if they were in a D&D adventure together. Which roles would they each play?
October 19th: Take any monster/killer/bad guy from any work of fiction… and make them a magical girl.
October 20th: Draw one a personal favorite character of yours in a Halloween costume they would NOT be happy to be wearing. (Thank you to my friend, Lev, for this idea!)
October 21st: Because some asked, this prompt has the potential to be done with an EDIT! I know you’re all a fan of your pets, and I want you to show it. Make a fancam edit of one of your pets. Don’t own a pet? Pick a popular pet from popular fiction. If you prefer not to do an edit, create a scrapbook page lovingly dedicated to your pet/fictional pet.
October 22nd: Create a full-body depiction of a fictional character/your OC/yourself with a Final Fantasy-style outfit. Don’t skimp on the belts and zippers. (Thank you to my friend, Kenny, for this idea!)
October 23rd: Comic books love to do this, and now you get to try your hand at it: what if your favorite superhero/supervillain existed in another time period? What would they look like??
October 24th: Take a meme you love to use from your photo gallery… what may it look like as a frame in an anime or manga??
October 25th: Pick a flower, mushroom, tree, any piece of flora, and turn them into a person. What would they wear? What would their accessories be? Yes, this is basically Date Everything with plants, whatever, I loved the concept.
October 26th: Take one of your latest, out-of-context text messages sent to you, doesn’t matter how long it is. It is now the title of a horror movie. And you have to create a poster for that horror movie.
October 27th: Draw two characters from completely different universes that you think would be two peas in a pod… and depict them having to work together to pull off some sort of crime/heist.
October 28th: Do you faintly remember a character from maybe your childhood? Don’t look them up, and try drawing them from memory. THEN, if you like, you can look them up and try drawing them with the reference, or simply display an image of them to show us how close you got!
October 29th: Use a color wheel generator to give you one color. And use it as inspiration for one fall/Halloween activity/memory/whatever that you’d depict. You don’t have to stick to that one color, but make it a dominant one in the creation!
October 30th: Try to re-create a famous work of art using only basic geometric shapes OR random objects in your house. And see if people can guess what it is. You could later reveal it or place the name of the work in a comment/reply/reblog.
October 31st: And finally, for Halloween, create a Jack o’ Lantern (drawn or with a real pumpkin!) using one of your favorite/most used emojis as the inspiration for the design. And accompany it with your favorite candies/sweets!
Another year of art prompts and what you all make is SO frickin good, it's been such a treat seeing them all. You all are so amazingly talented and seeing all of the creations has been making my month. And it doesn't have to just be taken on during October. Have fun with these at any time!! Thank you all!
