@little-witchys-house asked for a few and the first one was Jealousy so here is the prompt. 

There is always some celebration when the Sandmasters ship docks at port, joy that Thra saw fit to grant them with safe passage through the crystal desert.  How quickly that spark of joy would falter if only they knew… Skekmal’s tail twisted about, curling around the thick branch beneath him. He could hear the sounds of revelry even over the shifting sands, music and laughter carried on the wind to the border of the forest where he watched.

Time passed and the hunter felt his patience carved away…Impatient and bored he ventured closer to the harbor town. The small Gelfling settlement straddled the border where the crystal desert and the forest met, allowing those who braved the sea like sands to dock and trade.

A familiar form caught his eye at last. Rek’yr, at ease beneath the faint glowing lanterns, stood speaking to another. The hunter watched as the stranger leaned into the Sandmasters space with ease that suggested long time familiarity, his hand coming to rest against Rek’yrs’ back in a way that suggested much more while Rek’yr openly laughed at something the other had said.

Something burned deep inside the Hunter at the sight, the sensation subtle yet startling for the Skeksis. He refused to evaluate it further as at last he caught Rek’yrs attention. The shift in the Gelflings eyes and mannerisms were almost nonexistent yet for the hunter plain as day, and soon enough the Dousan departed from the group.

Together they worked their way towards the meeting point, Rek’yr within the crowd and Skekmal within the shadows, moving parallel until at last the two converged, the Gelfling stepping at last beyond the borders of the town.

“I apologize Hunter, did I keep you waiting?” His spoke, his voice even and rolling like the waves of the crystal desert. There in the dark, just beyond the trees Rek’yr seemed just as at ease with him…as if he were one of the same simpering lot that manned the sandmasters great ship and not The Hunter. A lord of the Crystal.

“Long enough, come, the hunt is waiting.” Skekmal turned to the forest and began to walk, the feeling in his chest gone at last.
