I asked Our Techie Guru, Aaron Abramson,
What he thought about Net Neutrality
and The Giantism we are witnessing as
Media Giants Buy Up
the VOICE of We The People.
Aaron’s Response was So SMART,
I’ve Included it Below :
I feel that the internet needs to be open in order to innovate.
The big telco’s like time warner, comcast, and ATT argue that an open internet will hurt the internet but the fact is that an open internet with regulation will require innovation to keep up.
This whole “fast lane” proposal is also junk. It either has to be all open or not. Consumers already pay for their internet speed. Businesses do the same. This is just another ploy for big telco’s to make even more money with little investment in improving the experience.
An open internet will do what Obamacare has done to medicare. Make it hyper-competitive, affordable, and better. There is also a reason why the medical field will have immense job growth over the next decade, its because of Obamacare. Same can be said of net neutrality. The need to innovate without limit becomes a job creating factor.
The only people who don’t benefit are people.
The corporations like time warner and comcast (should be) forced to finally spend money on things like improving infrastructure … which they don’t do.
In fact net neutrality also improves infrastructure and by extension, national security.
A better infrastructure is more durable and flexible in an emergency.
There are only tangible benefits to open internet. There are no tangible consequences with open internet.
People who say “net neutrality with hurt innovation” are conveniently hiding behind the vague definition of actual innovation.
Overall if you like to pay more than once for a service that is now a common utility in our lives, and hate having a fast and always available internet, you should hate open internet.
But most people agree that an open internet is necessary for our country to move forward and remain relevant in an ever evolving global economy.
