all odd numbered questions
Alright so coronaking told me book protagonist so here’s some shit about the lovely Sandra Morris.
It’s a lot of stuff so I’m gonna put it under the cut, along with a short-ish summary what the story is and a little bit of background on Sandra
So, to begin. Sandra is 52 years old, medium height, and has long salt-and-pepper hair she usually keeps in a braid or a bun. She has a doctorate in psychology and teaches at the local university. Her husband, Harold, is recently deceased as the story begins.
BASICALLY there’s a war against these crazy occultists who have a religion based on these spirit-like creatures that no one really understands or knows where they come from. Sandra, through a course of events that are long and I don’t feel like rambling about, figures out that the spirits are kind of like parasites that develop inside humans, and when their hosts die they sort of emerge like ghosts or souls. She brings her findings to the government, but the government gives her the cold shoulder because why the fuck should they care? But the leader of the military (Gen. Valerie Singer) is like “Hey, I think we could use this. The more we know about those lil suckers, they better we might be able to show up the crazy occult people.” And as much as she dislikes the military, Sandra agrees. They set up a lab for her as best she can and then the rest of the story is all existential and full of war and stuff.
So, yeah. Enjoy.
What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional
She definitely sleeps on her side. Sleeping on her stomach hurts her back too much. She doesn’t need that kind of crap in her life.
Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
I’ve always pictured her with a really neutral accent.
What are their chief tension areas?
Um, dead husband, definitely on the list. Also, her work at the University. The war. Having to work with the military.
How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
As a professor of psychology I think she would think herself more neutral than anything else. Other people probably see her as good, but really she only sees herself doing what anyone else would do to figure out what the hell is up with the parasites.
Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
She doesn’t dream very often. On nights when she can’t sleep for whatever reason, she usually makes a cup of tea and talks to lil’ Harry, the parasite that more or less sprang up from her husband’s grave.
What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
For the most part she isn’t religious. A lot of her discoveries on the parasites, however, make her think about religious concepts like souls and such.
Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
All the time. Both of her jobs are stressful for very different reasons, so if she’s grading papers and there’s a lot going on, or the people in the lab are being difficult, she steps outside for a while to unwind.
Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
Sandra’s a pretty decent multi-tasker when she’s in the zone.
Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
Introvert, definitely. She prefers to be alone (and when Harold was still alive, alone included with him), but she understands that to do what she has to do, she has to face large amounts of people. She really cherishes the time she has to unwind.
If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Like, a physical altercation? Sandra would run. She’s not a fighter. She’s a psychologist. Leave the fighting to the people with guns.
Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
Oh gosh. It’s hard to say. Sandra’s really down to earth, so I don’t know if she’d wish for anything. She’d much rather do things on her own. Though she might wish for Captains Allen and Kasabian to shut up every once in a while so she can work in peace. Maybe she’d wish for a peaceful end to the war. She would also wish that she could talk to the parasites so that she could understand them better.
Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Affection. Sandra’s never been into mushy stuff. Quickest way to her heart would have to be.... Probably a good book, I’d say.
Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
Her biggest kink would be not having sex with people. Zing.
If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
Okay this is really hard because Sandra’s 52, so she’s probably seen at least one parent die already. Her last words to them as either of them died would probably be “I’m here. I won’t leave you.”
Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
No, she absolutely loves quiet. It helps her think and focus.
Wow, that was a lot okay.
