Sanlam has perfectly read my thoughts and for 7 years in a row now I’ve always been interested in the idea of turning your passion and hobby into a real business, as a visual artist myself, I know how easy it is to forget about the business side of your, well, business, or rather let’s say craft for now. It is easy to forget about your business side of your craft and use that as an opportunity to make a living out of it. It is a very personal and scary feeling to picture your passion as a business, especially since you don’t know how people will respond to it, but also that could act to your advantage, any response usually sparks an idea to something new and innovative and we should continue to spark personal ideas to other individuals and let them decide how they feel. When someone speaks of your craft, I usually see that as a support structure, as long as there’s a supply of information about your craft as a business circulating within a certain kind of community that shares the same vision with you, you are already on the winning side. It really interested how Sanlam has perfectly read my thoughts and for 7 years in a row now, a community of HandMade crafts is coming to our doorsteps again, and for the first time The Sanlam HandMade Contemporary Fair will feature 5 new international exhibitors with works under the theme Well Made in Africa, bringing the number to a record 120 exhibitors! I would like to invite everyone to come and join us at the Sanlam HandMade Contemporary Fair. It’s an amazing opportunity to have good conversations, grow your support and feed off inspiration from all the exhibitors there: http://www.sanlamhmc.co.za/exhibitors/ Details: The Sanlam HandMade Contemporary Fair Hyde Park Corner Roof Top, Johannesburg, South Africa 14 – 16 October 2016 Social Media engagement: Official Hashtag #SanlamHmC www.twitter.com/HMC_Fair www.instagram.com/sanlam_HMC www.instagram.com/Themba_Mbuyisa Tickets available here: https://www.webtickets.co.za/event.aspx?itemid=1464498751
