"How's she doing? Uh, mother, I mean."

Eyes bore into his back and he turned to face the girl who was staring so intently at him.
"Can I help you?" She made him a little uncomfortable from her staring, he wasn't going to lie. But she looked like she needed help of some sort.

It was just so bizzare seeing him casually walking around, as if nothing were wrong. After years of not seeing his familiar face, Sano began to feel a strange longing to quickly converse with his father.
But of course that was never the option, as, like Gerome, he came her purely to see that his father made it safely through the war. There was no need for emotional attachment. Call it fear, but one like Sano would not risk that kind of pain ever again.
Though he failed to realized he looked quite idiotic staring at his father.
swords-of-hope "Dad, dad watch me!" He clung onto his father's hand, grabbing his attention from what was previously occupying him (which was probably Cordelia). "Alright, alright kiddo. Let's see how you've improved." Taking the wooden practice sword his father brought home from the barracks, Sano readied his battle stance, shoulders much too tense and knees locked too tightly, but was it really much of a concern? Especially since Sano was a mere 8 years old. He lunged towards the training dummy, an angry look spread across his face as he let out a childish "battle cry". It was cute, too cute. "Come here, you." Stahl laughed, picking up the young boy, ruffling his hair affectionately. "Where'd you get all that practice? You're getting so good at swordsmanship!" "I taught me all by myself." With his chest puffed out slightly, the boy raised his chin in a proud manner, his eyes nearly sparkling from his father's praise. "I reckon you'll best me in a few years, with your talent!" "R-Really?!" Pressing a kiss onto his son's temple, he held him close, a smile spreading across his face, "Really."

"No need for the cold shoulder. We're comrades, no?"

"No I am not going to 'pick up girls' with you. Leave me alone." He huffed, eyebrows creasing.

"Greetings, candy man." He faked a salute. If his memory served him right, this was probably the same Gaius who tried sneaking him some candy when he was a child.

"..Morning, father." He mumbled, wishing to avert his eyes from his father's face.
