Awesome #waterfall in #uvita #costarica that we checked out on the few day vacation after using #sansaairlines from the #costaesmeraldaairport just 17 km from #surfranchpopoyo (at Uvita, Puntarenas, Costa Rica)
You wouldn’t know it but I’m not overly fond of flying but I promised I wouldn’t let anything keep me from enjoying this life God has blessed me with. A wise man (Darren Terry) once told me we can do anything we put our mind to. It’s simply mind over matter. So when I walked outside & saw the plane that was taking us to Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica, I called up every resolve & prayer I had instead of turning around & going back inside.
12 seater single prop. We literally walked onto the tarmac, under the tail (which almost touched the top of my head & I’m short), and up some steps that also served as the door. As I walked into the tail of the plane I immediately hit my head on the ceiling, took one look around at the tightness & felt anxious (I’m claustrophobic). There were 6 of us plus 2 pilots. I had to take a single seat behind the pilots & Darren behind me. I had the horror, uh pleasure, of seeing all the instruments & straight out the front windshield. I saw & heard the pilots go through all the checks. Heard the little computer lady say all systems are OK ( I GUESS that was kind of reassuring) then the propeller started up & we pulled onto the runway.
As we picked up speed for take off the plane began to fish tail slightly which I knew was to be expected given its size but…. Then we were lifting off. My senses were assaulted with sights, sounds, feelings, emotions. My brain screamed & begged my eyes to look away from the pilots & windshield but my heart told my eyes to look lest they miss one of the most amazing things I would ever witness…so I looked, eyes glued to the windshield as the ground disappeared and sky and clouds rushed past. Though you only saw sky you knew you were going up and up.
I now know why pilots love their jobs, the view is breathtaking, magical, awe-inspiring. I finally relaxed & looked out the side window to see some of the most amazing views. Because the plane was smaller we stayed at a lower altitude which allowed me to see deep in jungles, mountain farms & houses, beautiful beaches, mangrove swamps & much more. As the pilot decreased speed over the ocean, I looked thru the winshield & saw the spit of land he was aiming for. I watched as the trees came closer & closer & as we passed thru them to land in the middle of nowhere. Though a little scary at first, it was it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced.
